Apparently this is breaking news. Fulmer is giving Ainge a couple of days off and even went on to say that he expected him to play but if not, Crompton would be ready to go.

Will Erik ever escape injury issues? If we are 28 to 1 to win the BCS, then Ainge should be 100 to 1 to start every game.

Yeah I think a jammed pinky is not really an issue. He will sit out of practice and be fine. I think they want to make sure he is healthy come game day. But, I am sure everyone is about to freak out anyway.

hope he recovers 100% by the game. Anyone know if it's his throwing hand?

Fulmer made sure to say he hoped Ainge would play Saturday. That's bad news. I'm really worried. Seriously.

Even if Ainge (praying he can, and I think he will) can't play, I have plenty of faith in Crompton.

rub some dirt on it and walk it off, tape it up, whatever it takes to play..........this just takes the wind out of my sails.......this is a freakin' joke right?

If I weren't going to the game, I wouldn't meltdown as much. The only non-Neyland UT game I've been to was the 2001 SECCG.

Tennessee quarterback Erik Ainge has a jammed pinky on his throwing hand, UT coach Phillip Fulmer said Tuesday morning. Ainge is expected to play Saturday against Cal, but he will be limited in practice this week. Backups Jonathan Crompton and Nick Stephens are expected to receive more practice time this week. More details as they develop online and in tomorrow's News Sentinel.

I don't like the sound of Fulmer saying "expects" instead of "will". We'll still be ok with Crompton, but I really hope Ainge is 100%...
