Eric Garner Grandy Jury Decision Today

That's funny, a lot of us feel that way about a lot of the stupid laws on the books. But, people die every day over them.
Whether or not most here will admit it, this man died for failing to pay taxes. The states thugs moved in and killed the man, end of story.

He did not die for paying taxes. Come on, quit trying to turn this into some sort of tax revolt issue.

Had he obeyed the officers' commands and submitted to arrest, which was totally justified under the law, he'd probably be on that same street corner right now.

If you don't like the law, lobby to change it. Sue. Elect new leadership. But don't break it, then argue with and resist officers trying to lawfully do their duty and claim its all the fault of that stupid law in the first place.

So that justified the use of prohibited lethal force? K.

LG doesn't understand. Let me rephrase.

After work, I go to the coke Isle. I buy a 6 pack of mountain dews for 2.50 (current price at Walmart in South Knoxville.)

I then proceed to take said items and sell them for 1 dollar per drink (guy was selling single cigs.)

1) this happens all the time everywhere.
2) I make a profit.
3) no one cares thay I make a tax free profit.

Therefore I can Conclude that said law is asinine and if the taxes on cigs weren't so outrageous in NYC, then the market for "black market cigs (doesn't that just sound stupid.)" would be little to none.

Are you saying he went in to a store in that jurisdiction and bought the cigarettes, fully taxed, and then paid whatever taxes were due and owing on that transaction, and merely re-sold the fully taxed cigarettes?

Or are you ignoring that he was selling them cheaper than if they were bought by a retailer and the correct taxes paid?

His resistance, not the underlying crime, justified the use of force. You know this. Quit ignoring his own actions in this.

You talk about the agency policy and procedure as though it defined the constitutional limits on use of force, which it does not. It will help with the family's civil liability claim. But it does not turn otherwise non-criminal use of force into criminal just because of city policy.

If indeed it was an illegal choke hold why wasn't he indicted? I've heard from various outlets it wasn't a choke hold.. Doesn't add up especially after all the unrest in ferguson.

Haha ok. Dare I ask why did they accost the man in the first place? For being suspected of selling UNTAXED cigarettes. Tax evasion doesn't kill people, cops that enforce tax evasion kill people huh...

Looks like they took the Staten Island NYPD scanner offline. I guess they don't want people around the world to hear what is going to happen

If you want to just come out and tell the truth. It was government regulation and its enforcement arm "the cops" that killed Mr. Garner.

I've been kinda flirting with the fact that it's liberal nanny state policy but meh I'll go ahead and say that. The use of a prohibited maneuver is never permitted seeing as it's ya know... Prohibited.

Yeah Malcolm X once said with the Govt label on a pack of cigarettes and on a bottle of liquor you're buying it from the Govt. The police are defending the city of New York's cut of the cigarette profits.

Cops exacerbate the problem by demanding compliance over common sense. You WILL OBEY!
