I have seen the footage of Eric talking on the front page, but does anyone have video of the media asking him if he thought about transferring? I have been wanting to see that part of the questioning

I want to see Crompton's comments. Probably similar to Cullen Harper's.

why would he transfer and lose a year of eligibility (or else play D-1AA) when he'll be a first round draft pick after next season?

the reporter who asked that question should have his credentials pulled.

Doesn't matter.

He gives a chance to win, but Berry alone has obviously not produced a winning season.

If he transfers it is a sad by-product of getting a coach in there that will be able to produce a winning season.

Eric Berry's not transferring. This may eventually change any plans he had of staying for a senior season, but he's definitely not transferring.

He's not going anywhere...that was an idiot question by the reporter. The kids are obviously upset because they are loyal to their coach. He is not going to cut his nose off to spite his face...he plays here next year and then off to the millionaires club.

Eric Berry is the best individual UT player (offense OR defense) that UT has had in years! Possibly since Peyton Manning. He's the man!!!

Eric Berry is the type of player who doesn't need a winning season to do his best and look good. Scouts will see that easily, so I don't think being at TN has hurt him in the least. He's a bright guy, so he knows what he's doing.

link to video of EB's comments? I have heard people talking about this video in multiple threads on multiple boards and still can't find a link.

When I first read that I thought it was a ridiculous post but now that I think about it, it's possible depending on what he does next year. We've had some greats (especially on D) like Haynesworth, Henderson, Al Wilson, Stallworth, Jamal Lewis, Travis Henry, etc. I haven't enjoyed watching someone on defense so much since Al Wilson was in Knoxville. Long story short, Berry is a stud and no doubt will be considered a Tennessee Great if he continues this play.

I couldnt see Berry transferring with just one year left till a big payday.
That doesnt mean other solid players wont transfer seems that coaching changes cause that quite a bit.

The reason I believe this to be so is because of his ability to stand out on a bad defense.

The performance of most defensive backs are made to look better with a good-to-great defensive line and linebacking group. Likewise, defensive backs are exposed with mediocre-to-poor play from the line and linebackers. Berry has been the playmaker and most reliable member of two mediocre defenses thus far.

Last year, Berry flourished with UT's worst defense in years. They couldn't stop the run, get a decent pass rush, putting more pressure on the DB's to have better coverage and make TD-saving tackles. Do you remember how many 3rd downs they gave up??

He's in the record books already for INT's and INT return yardage, he making big hits on receivers, RB's, and QB's that try to take him on. He's the SURE tackler that gets the man down when all our other defensive players have missed (or just plain whiffed) the ball carrier. He has a knack of making a play once the ball gets into his hands. Remember, you've got to be doing alot of things right as a DB to have the ball in your hands as often as Berry does. My point is, Eric Berry has become a star playmaker without BENEFIT from star players all around him. (I guess with the exception of Jerod Mayo. Mayo was selected as high as he was because of his productivity on a bad defense.)

He's been doing all the above since his FIRST game his freshman year! His sophmore season isn't even finished yet, and we're already having this conversation.

I like that video a lot. A whole lot. I'll take a new Tennessee out there, too.

Whoever in the hell we get as a coach needs to get after some people's butts and keep instilling the values and working like heck that a great man like Fulmer put into this program. Ramon's right... Yeah, we're 3-6, but they are a family and get after it.

I hope more than anything that a family attitude stays in this program. I agree that a change was needed, but just from these two team leader types talking, they valued the Tennessee family whether it was a down year or not.

Can Eric Berry coach and play? Is that against any NCAA rules?

I mean on my church league basketball team our coach does that and we do pretty well!
haha

But in all seriousness does anyone think if Eric would have said yes he would transfer ( which would be dumb because he only has to play one more year here) if Fulmer wasn't the caoch next year that they would have said "Ok Phil one more year"???

I know it is all speculation now because he isn't but just curious. I know I would keep him one more year for that haha!
