Regardless of his NFL career, he should have his jersey retired, not his number.

What does an NFL career have to do with college football.

Tebow will have his jersey retired, whether he is a flop in the NFL or not. Same case for Berry. IMO

I agree with you, Jersey retired not number. and he needs a road named after him on campus. it be cool to see
Eric Berry return in a cul-de-sac. or
Eric Berry Interception at an intersection. could be alot of cool ones done with his name.

Because Tebow was a big reason FL won two NC, AND he won the Heisman.

Let's face it, Florida doesn't have the rich tradition that we have. So, maybe now they may consider retiring numbers.

they at one time did have 2 retired, and those 2 players agreed to unretire them (steve spurrier and Scot Brantley). they felt it was better to not retire numbers.

Spurrier also donated his Heisman to Florida. After that Downtown Athletic Club started giving two Heisman trophies, one for the player and one for the school.

If not for Tim Tebow (bleh) he would have been the best player in the SEC easily while he was here. I don't really see why it matters what he does in the NFL. I mean what if he were to get hurt or something? That wouldn't take away what he did as a Vol. He had about as successful career at UT as he possibly could.

Mark Ingram?

6. A candidate must have achieved THREE of the following five collegiate honors:
a. Induction into the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame. I think this is possible
b. Southeastern Conference (SEC) Player of the Year.Defensive player OTY
c. Consensus All-America.Twice
d. Heisman Trophy winner.Thorpe award
e. Have won one of the following general athletic/academic or non-position specific awards: Sullivan Award, SEC Athlete of the Year (all sports) or Draddy Award.Dont think he did any of this
7. Recognizing the tremendous collective impact of Tennessee Volunteers in professional football, candidates must have also achieved THREE of the following four professional distinctions:
a. Induction into the NFL Hall of Fame.
b. NFL offensive or defensive MVP. I think he could do this
c. Achieved Pro Bowl status in 5 seasons. Should do this
d. Holder of a major career or season statistical record (yards, sacks, tackles, touchdowns scored or thrown)

I think he will be close enough for consideration in 10 years. The only things holding him back is only 3 years at UT (even though he started day one so he has plenty of playing time) and that we stunk like crap when he was here.

Ultimatly I think he will have his number retired in 2018.

Great player on bad teams... I wouldn't retire his number. Based on some of these arguments John Henderson deserves just as much consideration.
