Eric Berry stopped by my wife's school today to speak with the kids today. Interesting facts that he revealed offline to some of the teachers...he has skittles before every game and did not have skittles before the buffalo game, the game he tore his ACL. He hangs out a lot with Jamal Charles. Ironically he told a teacher (who is a K-State fan) that all of his observations of Bryce Brown at UT indicated that Bryce was a hard worker.

Eric said the biggest trash talker in the NFL is Phillip Rivers. He told teachers that under the new NFL CBA, the team only goes full contact once a week.

He talked to the kids about how he worked at a Dairy Queen and that his dad made him write down his goal of playing in the NFL on paper and how he would attain that goal. He said that his parents were with him on draft day and that all of them cried when his name was announced because of all the hard work Eric had put into his goal. Eric told the kids that his entire life, people told him he was too small, too slow but he always believed in himself. He said that when someone tells him he can't do something he makes it a priority to prove them wrong. He told the kids to never let someone tell you that you can't do something. He said that the one person who influenced him the most was his dad.

He told the teachers afterward that he was heading to the airport to fly outnto go have his surgery on his ACL.

I tried to attach a picture, but my iPad is not cooperating with me on that. Eric gained a lot more fans in this area today. This town loves the guy.

There really is something to putting goals on paper with a decline and a plan. Google the study about Harvard biz grads and written goal bs salary correlation.

I feel like the term "VFL" is becoming very cliche, but he truly is one. I've been 110% impressed with him from the day he set foot on campus here, from the way that he carried and presented himself in public, to his work ethic, focus, and production on the field. I have never felt so at peace and so much like, "You deserve this", for a kid who leaves early for the NFL as I did with EB14.

Come back bigger, faster, and stronger next season EB. And beat Phillip Rivers's ass into the ground. (Just stay away from Jake Locker...) :)

Let me clarify for all the adolescents, my wife is a principal of a school...not a student at an elementary school.

Thanks for sharing, great read. I really hope we get his brothers (at least one of them), and not just for their talent, that family is just very classy. Good representatives for the University.

He is a great guy and I hope he heals quickly from his injury
