Just got to my evening class after work and could not wait to see if this was posted. Did not see where anyone had posted, so forgive me if this is a duplicate.

On my way to class tonight, 610 Sports Kansas City reported that Eric Berry took a monumental step on Sunday in becoming the vocal leader of the defense. A teammate of Berry's told 610 Sports Nick Wright that during the pre-game stretch, Arizona's Joey Porter (known for his pre-game barking and shanigans) was jawing Chiefs offensive players Brian Waters and Thomas Jones. They both ignored Porter, because....it is Joey Porter. Apparently Porter said the wrong thing and then came too far over the mid field point, because Eric Berry left his stretching, got up in Porter's face and had some choice words for Porter. Then, back in the locker room, the Chiefs team captains and leaders let Berry have the floor. It was said that he got the team fired up before coming out for the kickoff...all thanks to Joey Porter. I know this has nothing to do with his play on the field, but that will come.

This was just reported on 610 sports (Nick Wright) but have not links or proof. However, the teammate of Berrys said that he is quickly becoming the defensive leader. This was exciting to hear.

He'll be the greatest former Vol to ever play in the NFL. Yes, even over Peyton. He's gonna be something special.

i love Eric Berry, hes the greatest player of this decade. But im not going that far as saying hes gonna be better then Peyton. It's hard to say that when they play on opposite sides of the ball. Peyton will get more mvp's, more numbers

I've been saying this since he finished his freshman season here. The guy just has "it".

You don't need more MVPs to be better than someone. Brett Favre isn't even close to as good as Tom Brady, and I don't think Peyton is better than Tom either, but that's at least a close race.

White was definitely something special, but I see Eric Berry even surpassing him when it's all said and done, barring some injury.

He's already playing like a top 10 safety in the league and it's his first season, and he hasn't even touched his full potential yet.

What Berry has that many safeties don't is balance. He can knock your ass out, he can make you regret throwing the ball at him, he can make you regret running at him.

Not to derail the EB love but Peyton is superior to Brady. The proof is in the 08 season. Without Brady the Pats still won 11 games. You take Peyton out and the Colts tank.

Im not saying Brady stinks. I actually think he and Peyton are 1A and 1B but Peytonis much more integral to his team.

Now having said that: EB is a phenom but he will not surpass Peyton's NFL legacy. Safety could never over shadow a QB.

Yes..if you took Peyton off the Colts as of now, they wouldn't win more than 3 games.

If you took him off the team that had Marvin Harrison playing well, Reggie Wayne, Dallas Clark and Brandon Stokely, no, that team is still a winner.

Just like Brady was the whole reason that offense went in their 3 superbowl years when his best receivers were guys like Deion Branch and Troy Brown.

Matt Cassel took over an offense that had Randy Moss drawing double/triple coverage and the best slot receiver in the game in Wes Welker. I think me or you could have won several games with that team to. Cassell has proved with KC that he's an average QB who was helped mightily by Moss and Welker.

I think a QB is overrated. If you build a great D, you don't necessarily need an elite QB..just one who won't lose you the game. It's really a toss up depending on what type of offense you'd run.

The 99 Titans were a dominant defensive team that had Eddie George carrying the work load and McNair making just enough plays and very little mistakes to take them to a superbowl.

We all know about the 00 Ravens.

You lost any sense of a valid argument with the Peyton isn't as good as Brady point. Disregard the Vol allegiance and it still isn't close. The only reason Brady is in the discussion is the Super Bowl Rings, in which he had far superior teams to any that Peyton has played on. Brady is basically the modern day version of Terry Bradshaw. Another quarterback who was good but is remembered for better than he actually was because of the rings. Without a doubt, Peyton is far superior to Brady. All that said, Berry is amazing and will be a great NFL player, not all time great, but great.

Tom Brady is tied with John Elway for the most game winning drives in playoffs history with 6. Manning has 1.

For me, it's all about being clutch in the post season, and as noted by that stat(given that 2 of those game winning drives were in the superbowl and should have had a 3rd if his defense didn't choke vs the Giants), Brady is as clutch as it gets.

I don't really care much for regular season bull****. I'm all about playoff performances. Big Ben is a great example of what I'm talking about. A decent enough QB in the regular season, plays well enough to get to the playoffs, but once he gets to the playoffs, he turns it up a notch.

If you value regular season stats more than me, that's fine, that's your opinion and I can see where you're coming from. However to call my argument invalid because I don't think Peyton Manning is better than Tom Brady is foolish..because it's not possible to say that Manning is even as close to as clutch as Brady in the playoffs. Just as it's not possible for me to say that Brady has done more in the regular season than Peyton.

I'm simply a playoff performance type of guy(note I say performance, not wins), and as long as you're good enough to get me to the playoffs and that's when you start playing like an elite QB, that's perfectly fine with me.

Not to mention, it's not like Tom Brady isn't good in the regular season.

He averages 25 TDs and 11 INTs per his 9 seasons he's completed(not counting this year).

People say you need an elite QB to win a superbowl..and that's been proven wrong in the past. As long as you have a decent QB who you build a great team around, you're gonna be just fine. You don't need a Tom Brady or a Peyton Manning to win a superbowl at that point.

Your joking right? Or was this the dumbest post i have ever read? If I remember right Peyton picked the Cheifs apart and Eric was benched. When was the last time Peyton was benched? Um lets see...never. I don't even know how you could argue this with intelligence. I think Eric will be a very good well rounded safety in the league for years to come.... But come on thats like saying Woodson deserved the Heisman over Manning. Are you serious? Who panned out better in that deal btw?

Take a look at the winning quarterbacks... the only two non impressive quarterbacks that stand out as winners are Dilfer and Johnson. 2 out of 43 proves alot? Hm.
