Eric Berry: Things will change guys, I promise/Eric got screwed (merged)

I can't say I'm surprised by this. I had a feeling EB would lose out to the OSU guy, for no other reason than he goes to OSU. If he goes to OSU, he must be better...right? The real travesty of it all is the amount of influence ESPN has over college football, especially when you look at some of the idiots they have working there.

Screw Tebow. I hope he breaks his legs and never plays another down. Quote me on that all you whiny pc liberals.

If this was not meant sarcastically then you are a classless human being who sounds more suited to be a Bama Fan.

Why would anyone want to talk badly about a young man who represents college football with dignity and class and knows that living for Jesus Christ is more important than the game of football? I have nothing but respect for Tebow and wish he was UT's QB. In fact, I think he is a great role model for young men and I hope my sons can be just like him someday.

Whenever you say things like this about an opponent that routinely whips your team, it makes you look like a sore loser.

Seriously, wanting the opponent to get injured or hurt is a gutless approach to fandom.

So what's the surprise? ASSPN hates Tennessee, right? Eric is a sophomore. He has two more awards to win. Book 'em.

I sent the below email. I suggest all of you do the same. I am sick and tired of UT getting the shaft!!!!!!!

To whom it may concern:

Something has to be done about the football awards. Most of the sports writers are from the north. Macolm Jenkins being selected over Eric Berry is a disgrace to football awards and Thorpe himself. Just like Charles Woodson being selected over Peyton Manning was a major disgrace to Heisman.

Here is proof on the current disgrace:

Malcolm Jenkins - 54 tackles, 3 ints for 7 yds and 0 touchdowns, 3.5 tackles for loss

Eric Berry - 72 tackles, 7 ints for 265 return yds, and 2 tds, 8.5 tackles for loss, and 3 sacks

The fans, ALL media, and ALL coaches should vote on the outcome!!!!!!!

Add a sack in there for Jenkins and it will be complete. When you put these #'s beside each other like this, it makes you scratch your head real hard on how this happened.

His stats were worse than Berry's, and he played in the Big 10... seriously, who would vote him ahead of Berry??????

I saw the statistical differences on govols, and it was absolutely not even close, like voting a D-3 prospect over an NFL player, it went something like this........

Eric Berry had about: (then the fool who won)

15-20 more tackes
5 more tackles for loss
2-3 more sacks
4 more interceptions!!
260 more interception return yards!!!!!!!!

The only thing the OSU clown had on Berry was like 3 more batted passes.....who cares?? the guy's a corner, of course he will bat more down........Plus, how many highlight reel bone-crushing tackles did Berry have on the year?? almost 1 or 2 every game!!!

This is an absolute OUTRAGE......It shouldn't have been even close........ESPN should be ASHAMED to steal an award like that......why these awards goes to the players on the top teams is absurd, or to the "darling" teams mentioned.........

Seriously, wonder why ESPN hates Tennessee so bad??

When was the last time in college football you had a strong safety, who could hit like a DE, run like the fastest corner, intercept like a free safetly, and take off afterward like a WR???

I've never ever seen a player like Eric Berry.......He's completely redefined the strong safety position........And he's a great, humble guy.......much more humble than alot of those players on that show, who were "trying" to be humble..........

According to the Jim Thorpe web site, that organization only decides on the finalists. It is "sportswriters, broadcasters, former players and coaches" who actually vote to determine the winner. Bunch of idiots. There is a disgraceful amount of BIAS among sportswriters who are supposed to be objective. What a joke. What we need to do is find the people who actually voted.

No what we need to do is let it go. It wont change anything. All it will do is add to the hillbilly poor mouth reputation we got when Manning did not win the heisman. Let it go folks. He deserved it but his team sucked. All there is to it and nothing we can do about it. Quit crying like someone stole your personal belongings off the fire place mantle.

Yeah I am sure they were totally unaware of the stats when they voted.

Maybe he can start that Eric Berry award and give it to chumps like Jenkins who should strive to be like Eric Berry.

Maybe he can win an SEC East Championship too.
That's what I'm talking about. All of the SEC peripheral awards will have Eric's name on them. Not only that, he will be the MVP of the title game when we win it next year.

I don't have to decide because I could give a damn less about individual awards.

Ok, but I have to ask the king of quick quips and knowledge of all things college basketball...if you were to consider looking at how the Thorpe award is awarded, and looking at all of the facts in front of you, who do you feel should have won, and why?

And I want an honest answer. Not that I feel you owe me anything, but I do feel you owe this to the populace of the board since alot of people on here respect your opinions and insight on alot of issues.

I do not see how Tebow is annoying.

Go suck your moms nipple more. Sorry if this is rude or has already been said, just started reading this thread after work, but if you can't understand what a tool Teblow is than YOU are such a tool. You are not a Vol if you can even stand seeing Teblow on TV.

Wow, now I just found out Berry didn't get the Thorpe. What a crock, but let's hope this motivates him even more to be the best, which he already is.

Apparently stats were not a factor in the voting process. Those are not even close to comparable. Captain Orange Rock.

You will notice I never said they were close. I just said sending them to an association who is already privy to them after the vote has been done seems a bit redundant. Once again just adding to the reputation vols fans have as being cry babies. I agree he should have won it but guess what he did not and nothing we do or say can change that. Best thing to do is go on with life and let it go before we do even more damage to the reputation of the vol faithful and further hurt any other future players chances of winning an award.

I find it hard to dislike a guy who does nothing but win football games and proclaim Jesus Christ in front of the world.

If you don't like him just because he's a great player and plays for a team that annually whips our butts then you will also have to dislike anyone that is a great player on any team other than UT. You probably hate Jay Barker too. Do you think that Mississippi State fans should hate Eric Berry or Vandy fans should hate Peyton Manning?

I just don't see how carrying yourself with class and dignity and proclaiming your faith on national television makes you a tool.

As a matter of fact, I was very proud, as a christian, to see Tebow boldly telling others about Jesus Christ. From all I've seen, he lives the life that he talks about. I applaud that and wish we had guys on our team like him. Who wouldn't want Tim Tebow as the QB of their team? One thing is for sure and that is that Tim Tebow is a winner and can carry a team on his shoulders when he needs to.

If liking Tim Tebow makes you a tool, then I'm proud to be a tool.

Agreed to the letter.
