TennNC, your avatar cracks me up because my father was stopped in two different airports in the 80's and asked for his autograph. When he asked who they thought he was , the response was always Glenn Hubbard. I have a 1987 tops card of Hubbard that looks exactly like my father did in 1987. Every time I see your avatar, I think about those stories of my father and the autographs.

Dale Carter, Deon Grant, Gibril Wilson, Jabari Greer, Jason Allen, Dewayne Goodrich...not a bad set of names there. He's definately well on his way to be on that level and possibly surpass them!

Think about Berry at FS, Willingham at SS, Vinson and Johnson at CB...I think the potential is there for a shut down secondary with no real weak link

WHAT!??? i agree about berry but where in the world did willingham at ss come from? he's doing a pretty good job at corner but there has been absolutely no indication he could even ever play safety period..he's barely played any at all at corner

This is his 3rd college season playing CB, his first in the SEC. He's a juco.

Recently read an article in RTN where Majors discussed his favorite players, and teams. Amazingly he didn't mention Pickens, but Carter was the only DB he mentioned. " He could strike like a cobra, but I wouldn't want to meet him in a dark alley. He was one wierd cat."

Berry is electic once he gets his hands on the ball, but lets face it 3 of the 4 int.'s were a result of horrible QB play not so much what he did, but at least he didn't drop them.

I agree, mostly. I think the secondary would be better like this, assuming we get him back:

CB: Vinson
CB: Willingham
S: Berry
S: Morley

we are going to be so sick in the DB in the coming future, i love eric berry cuz im from GA and have been hyping him since he was 17. Go Vols!!!

I agree that this group has the potential to be one of the best we've had, but let's not forget those groups from the late 60's and early 70's.

Guys like Majors, Priest, Graham and others who are all at or near the top in career interceptions for the Vols.

Those guys from the '60's and 70's were good, but really... they wouldn't be on the squad today. Wayyyyyyyyy toooooooo slowwwwww... for the SEC.

Dale Carter was my favorite and I saw all the others. He was more like Berry than the others. Carter put some mean hits on a lot of backs and could run like Berry. But, I'm remembering Dale more from his later years as a Vol (and he was one helluva an NFL safety as well)... I'm thinking about Berry last week. And, Berry is not that far away.

Give Berry a couple more years.... He's a Beast... Trust me!

Jerod Mayo is another guy who's going to leave his mark on UT history. He's warming up to his role as a leader... and he's a playmaker. :rock:

Dale Carter and Deon Grant I think are the best 2. Berry might eventually get there though (even with Slade coaching our DBs)
