Eric Berry or Taylor Mays?

I agree about Woodson. A great corner literally takes away half the field. A lot of how good Woodson (and any great corner) was never shows up because no QB was stupid enough to attempt to beat him.

Berry gets to roam and make plays. Sitting up in the nosebleeds at Neyland or the press box is when you can see how unbelievable his ability to break on the ball and make plays are. I can honestly say I've seen him out of position once and that was against UF his freshman year.

The thing about Berry that makes me like him so much is his tackling ability. He's a better tackler than most NFL DBs as a sophomore last year. He lays the lumber and very rarely whiffs completely.

Kentucky last year he got the foot of the QB in the endzone and didn't hold on for the safety. That was the only time I've seen him miss a tackle. He got up and was furious.

That play shocked me.

If Deion Sanders had been allowed to simply play centerfield and look for picks, he would have set a record nobody would touch. The same applies for Rod Woodson, Charles Woodson, Champ Bailey, and a bunch of other guys.

Another poster mentioned it (an I love Deion) but he would have been run over and missed so many tackles it wouldn't matter.

He won the Heisman because his receiving and punt returns... which were vastly overrated... which is what I should have said.

Edit: This has been talked about enough... sorry to get the thread moving in this direction.

Yeah, that's how he's made a boatload of Pro Bowls. It's all hype.

I guess you missed where I clarified what I meant.

Deion couldn't have played that role though because he wouldn't have made any tackles in between all of those picks. Can't disagree with any of the other names, though.
Given the personnel at the other 10 positions at that time, I bet Florida State's free safety was called on to make very, very few tackles in '86, '87, and '88.

is it really worth arguing since thier styles are so much different.
when they get to the nfl i am sure the def coordinator would work around thier strenghts.

to me its like arguing against the late shawn taylor and ed reed

Not trying to attack you at all...

Your post just invoked my thought.

It's not worth arguing because it's not even close. Period.
When it comes to the "strengths", um, tell me what TM can do that EB can't do, or do even better...

I'll wait.

Again, not aiming this at you specifically. I agree that that is some peoples perception but totally disagree with the thought of it being remotely factual.
