I'm so sick of hearing people say...... "He was suspended for smokin the other week."

I would love to know where everyone gets their info from. I have seen no where were it says he failed a drug test.

Jimmy Hymes and Hubbs are the ONLY ONES REPORTING THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The school does not release that info,so just idiotic speculation! A Hymes signature!!!!

im sure over half the team smokes "grass" at every program. i just really hope that when they do it is at a place where they dont have to leave and get caught

this, if true, is very sad on many levels. I think this is a gross over estimation for most all programs. I believe you have a few bone head kids (that just don't get it) that smoke it.

I'm not gonna lie, when I saw the headline, I thought it had something to do with Eric berry returning next season. Haha oh well. I wish Janzen would have played more video games with Eric. Maybe like NCAA 09. He can be like "look that's me represented in the #14 jersey. If you continue to improve and stay on the team, you can be represented too." "Don't mess it up."

I was hoping the same thing

Berry strikes me as a very smart kid, he's not going to do anything to mess up his career. I just hope if JJ stays, he learns and and see where he's got a chance to go with his life and there are bigger and better things waiting for him if he just buckles down and stays out of trouble.

he can do hard time or go big time. his choice.

LOL, everybody back it down about a thousand or two regarding Cali and weed. It's not legal here. You can get it for a medical condition if prescribed. I seriously doubt few SC players have rejected their doses recently, which may be why their back four had over 50 tackles against Stanford while their front seven is looking for the train that ran over them. Also, there are some counties that don't recognize the legal prescribed use of weed, so don't be cruising Venice Beach openly doing your bud. However it's common knowledge on a Sunday afternoon you can cop a free buzz a get a secondary contact high while strolling looking at the vendors displaying their stuff. A plant that grows alongside the roads of the country we spend billions imprisoning people for and buying play purties like tanks with battering rams on them for cops to knock down doors. Meanwhile we have kids that can't read and 5 year olds sold to pedophiles who take them out and butcher them we can't seem to stop. All the billions and years copmbating weed and anybody in any city in the USA can get some within 5 minutes and low prices. How about we spend billions on something meaningful like keeping pedophiles in prison rather than combating a plant? I don't know of anybody that uses marijuana that can't get it because law enforcement is doing such a great job keeping it away from everybody. The only people making money from weed are drug dealers, judges & their staffs and courts, lawyers, and bailbondsmen.

Remember, Remy, that it's decriminalized in many places. I don't know if it's a state law, but my buddies in Greensboro, NC say it's decriminalized there.

I concur. I'm saying that shouldn't be a reason for him to get the boot. IMO drinking alcohol is way more detrimental to your health, emotions, and mind than smoking da bud.

Your opinion is just plain wrong... Abuse of alcohol is no doubt detrimental in miriad ways, but burning tree is not only illegal, it is way more hazardous to one's health. Go talk to a doctor about it sometime if you don't believe me.

I have spoken to a couple of doctors about it, and they said that it depends on how much/how often, but that it's generally far easier to mess up your liver with alcohol than to get lung cancer with herb.

I'll put it this way, my parents don't drink, but have smoked since they were in High School... they're both healthy and their lungs are, for the most part, fine (my mother also smokes cigarettes).

My uncle has been a drinker for about ten more years, and his liver is on the brink of failing. Plus, he has a beer gut.

Edit: Also, alcohol poisoning is another factor. You can't overdose on grass. I'll bet you my entire life savings that more deaths have occurred due to alcohol than to marijuana.

The first time I read this title I intended to see something about his future plans. What a buzz kill. I already know he's leaving, I just can't wait to hear it so everyone can leave it alone.

OK... First, a disclaimer: I AM NOT BASHING ANY OF THE VOLS IN ANY WAY.

But... where was EB (and the other upper classmen) before all of this happened? They are the defacto leaders of this team, and one would think that with that leadership would come the desire to see those that look up to them remain in line. Anybody who has ever gone thru any military officers' training knows EXACTLY what I am talking about. Again.. not flaming the team.. just posing a question.

+1

I actually hope he goes. I want him to be successful and make a name for himself in the NFL asap. Then we'll have two upstanding model men in the national spotlight every Sunday/Monday night.

In the end, this isn't the military, and thus, isn't run as such.

I don't disagree with most of your post. I think the statement I highlighted pretty much lays it all out. A lot of it has to do with genetics too. There are smokers like your mom that might never get cancer from tobacco, and there are those that get it even if they smoke only on weekends. (You need to convince her to quit though :))

I can't argue with your edit either. Of course more people die from alcohol related issues than from weed. Some of this is probably due to the fact that weed is illegal too.. but I remember back in the old days that weed makes you mellow... alcohol makes you stupid.

Well if EB does go pro I hope the falcons get him. We need another Scott case. But case couldnt pick the ball off like EB can. And I'm sure he won't go that low in the draft.... Ohh well wishful thinking.

Not saying it is.. or should be. My point is that in the military, the younger guys learn from the older guys, and I fail to see how a team should be any different. Leadership is leadership, and it doesn't end at the locker room door. I would hope that EB (and others) would put their arm around JJ and the other freshmen and ESPECIALLY the ones that are far from home for the first time, and impart to them some of the things they have learned in their timew here. We all know that JJ has an incredible future if he just doesn't piss it away. Guess what.. EB knows that too. I sincerely hope that this little article is just a piece of what happens over at Gibbs, and that it has been going on since JJ stepped foot on the Hill. As I said.. not flaming.. just wondering
