Would anybody be surprised after this debacle if the next coach declared that ALL JOBS are open in spring and fall practice?

You mean Crompton won't be named starter? He almost led a magnificent comeback. And he almost beat LSU once.

I think the Vols retain most of their recruits to date. If I was a commit, I would ask myself, "is this all the competition I need to beat to get a starting job?" Tennessee could have the youngest team in Div 1-A ball and be considerably upgraded in talent.

Yep, and not allow any conversations with older players.

I hope that when the new coach comes in, that all jobs will be open. Besides Eric Berry, Robert Ayers, and possibly a couple more, there is not a player who has proved to be a starter. Moore and Jones show highlights and play well, but our team is pitiful as a whole. We are soft, and that is what upsets me the most. I don't expect championship seasons every year, but I sure would like to compete for them. Effort, Effort, Effort. We have a pathetic work ethic, and former Vols should be disgusted. Not many people in that locker room deserve to have the T on their helmets. Now, how much of it is coaching? I think we would all agree on that, but these players are not showing anything that proves to me that they are prepared to represent this team on the field. Our players just go through the motions, as their coaches do as well. There is a direct correlation, and someone needs to come in and change that attitude fast.
