I know this aint the recruiting board but when you get the #3 Rivals overall player in the country to commit, I think it deserves front page news. His dad was a Vol in th eearly 80's

It's not official as far as I know.

The AJC is reporting it, but from everything I have heard, Eric is going to go all the way to February with his recruiting season and pretty much just fax to whom he chooses.

Hubbs is saying it on rivals.

They all (including Hubbs) said that Warren was coming to Tennessee last year too.

I'm warning people now. Take this and any subsequent stories with a grain of salt.

Berry is an enigma.

It is official. Hubbs did not get to hear it from Berry in person, but Berry told some Rivals folks he did.

If accurate, that's a good job by the staff of closing the deal on an elite player you had to get. With James Berry having played at UT and openly supporting the Vols in this recruitment, it would have really been a shot to recruiting to fail in procuring Eric's enrollment in Knoxville.

NOTHING'S OFFICIAL until they fax a LIO in February.

The verbal commitment might be, but Berry is the type of player to say one thing, and do another. (Not that that is "wrong" per say, just the way he appears to be handling things.)

Phil and staff learned their lesson with Warren last year. Verbals in December are JUST that.

I would rather him say he was coming to UT then not at all though. Besides message boards are for speculation.

Speculation is good, I just know where something like this ends up.

Tennessee had Berry, and then Phil did something wrong, and they "lost" him. When truth be told, they never really HAD him to begin with.

I LOVE the fact the story is out there. It helps draw in other recruits, but fans shouldn't be overly optimistic until the LOI comes in.

Yes, Orange, I meant the verbal-commitment. Why would I be talkin' about the LOI? :ermm:

Not everyone that reads this board understands the in's and outs of Verbals vs. LOI's. I was making sure we were all clear on it. I had a good idea you were reffering to the commitment.

Warren was FSU all along i thought

Not sure if this is true, but word is goin' around is that his mother has cancer and he most likely wants to be closer to home & still play football. This would bypass the NCAA rules and he will still be eligible in '07 to play -- If he decides to come on down.

edit: we're on two different subjects here. whoops. :swoon3:

I read his comments, he sounds pretty solid on it...but obviously things can change in two months. Assuming he sticks it out though...grats to the coaching staff and Fulmer. Outstanding job landing someone that talented, and the best part is that he is ranked #1 in the state of ga. Getting the #1 corner and sticking it to uga in one swoop...I love it.

I am 100% committed to Tennessee and that is where I am going."

I know we dont even know anything for sure, but that sounds very committed right there.
