Eric Berry changing mind?

Ok before all of you cast stones and burn me at the stake..here me out.

First let me clarify that this is not official but it is something that is interesting that I got from a very reliable source.

Today I spoke with a good friend of mine (who will remain nameless for obvious reasons) who happens to be a sports agent at a particular company who handles several former Vols in the NFL...one being a certain DT that gets paid a TON of money (Im sure you can figure it out). This particular company is vying to represent EB, however...from what I was told today was that Eric is seriously reconsidering coming back for his senior year. I was told that Eric has not spoken with any agents yet...but his family has spoken with affiliates from this company and apparently Eric's mother is really putting the press on Eric to finish school and get his degree. In all probability he will still go, this is just very interesting news from a very very reliable source.

I've heard that declaring was a surprisingly tough decision for Berry. It seemed like the coaches pushed him in the direction of declaring.

However, probably not true. I'd be stunned if he actually changed his mind.

the reason to go to college is to increase your earning power right? What is the point of staying 1 more year to get a degree when you are already there without one? His signing bonus will more than cover any school he wants to go to when he's done playing football

Some moms are funny about school. A degree is a sacred, shining thing to a lot of people. But surely it should only take about 15 minutes to explain the financial risks involved in coming back to her. Injury, the risk of a rookie salary cap -- if you're a sure-fire high 1st round pick, you're crazy to come back if your family's not already rich.

Agreed 100 percent. I think he should go. It's just unfortunate he never beat Bama/Florida.

And with many more people going to college now, a degree just isn't as sacred anymore.

The big question is: WHY? Why would he return? He's going to be drafted in the top 3 this year and you know we're not going to make a run at the national championship next year even if he does return. Don't get me wrong, I'd take him back in a heartbeat but it just doesn't make sense.

I don't think Kiffin would let Berry make a mistake like this, unless he was dead set on finishing it out.

In 30 years, Vol fans who are arguing who the greatest Tennessee players of all time are will use that as a reason why Berry couldn't really have been that good. Kinda sad.

Huge mistake on his part if he stays.

He needs to make the money practically speaking.

Nothing would make me sadder than seeing him suffer a bad injury next year like Jason Allen did.

Look, Im not saying if he is coming back or not....Im just saying thats what I was told and its a good source....Im sure he is gone....all I said was that I was told he was seriously thinking about coming back to finish what he started.

Maybe he just wants to play college football which is like a million times better than playing for a sucky team or really any team in the NFL.
