If I wasn't fully on before, I am FULLY on the Eric Berry bandwagon. He was our LONE brightspot last night on defense and I am looking forward to seeing him play more than ever.

GO VOLS!!!!

Agreed, eveytime there was a tackle, (or a Cal guy dragging three of our other players down the field) Berry was right there to help get the player down. He was all over the place last night!

He leveled that one Cal player. I think it was Best.

I'll hop onboard, too. He looked great, especially considering that was his first college game ever.

The D line and linebackers certainly gave him lots of chances to make plays, that's for sure.

I was very disappointed in Mayo. He was tackling air all night.

he wasn't alone

did a d-lineman make a single tackle last night?
seriously..

if karl can't keep up, why was donald just chilling on the bench?

young talent is allowed to play, unless they switched something up on me

He was a bright spot of the defense last night and should be praised for his work. With that being said-if the rest had his heart, we would have had a better D last night than what played.

I was watching the game with a friend who was wondering who in the world number 14 is...he was very impressed. I thought that said a lot. I had been looking for him and was noting how good he looked...but I thought that a lot of that might just be my bias. He didn't know who he was or that he was a freshman and was noting how solid the kid looked.

Berry played great last night. Couldnt have asked for a better game out of him. Jackson did make him look silly one time but Longshore missed him. No harm, no foul I guess.

the one they replayed after they threw it to the guy on the sideline?
yeah, that was a longshore notice away from a touchdown.. but then again desean will do that to plenty of people this year

I was also very dissapointed in Karl last night. Last year he always seemed to be in the right place at the right time. He didnt do that tonight. Maybe he was rusty because he hasnt got to practice that much this fall.

yea, that one. Jackson put on a nice move and berry had no chance.

I don't even remember hearing Karl's name last night.

Berry rules. Like the original poster said, just about the only bright spot from the defense last night.

I noticed karl blitzing a lot more last year, just coming off of the edge, and this year best or whoever else got the ball was 7 yards downfield before people realized they might wanna tackle him

Yeah..he certainly got burned on that one. There was also another play where he got it handed to him, but the safeties backed him up.
