I'm not excited about this hire at all.

Other than the Kelly hire which is already confirmed the rest is something you can find laying at the bottom of a horse stall.

It seems like Currie is a hot mess with no plan. Kelly and Patterson gone, not willing to pay for Campbell, Frost looks good but likely to UF or Neb. Leach too quirky for SEC/UT. Mullen/Sexton is using us for a raise.

Guess Petersen is best remaining option. Love Cut but he’s not the guy for UT. My thought is we are going to be very underwhelmed by Currie’s choice and he will be canned in a few years with his football coach.

Since Currie is handling this hire himself, plus only very senior staff, it's his reputation, and his alone, that will suffer if he does not make the right hire. He knows that would hasten his firing. By putting all the responsibility on himself, I have a strong feeling that he will make a hire we can all (most) truly get behind and do us right.

So there is a real possibility that MULTIPLE quality coaches are interested in TN you know. We see talk of Mullen, Schiano, Kiffen, Petersen (God please please YES!!!) Brohm, Norvell, etc...

Once we put our battered Vol syndrome aside UT is an attractive job! Plain and simple. While the last two hires have been “meh” this institution has great appeal to the coaching community.

The sheer fact that a hire is supposedly imminent tells me Currie knows what he’s doing. No actual leaks from our AD. And Stricklin looks like a damn fool right now. We don’t. Be thankful. And be hopeful!
