Enough with the excuses!

Going back to Fulmer "we're a young team" and his banter with "the next recruiting class" to Dooleys "we're young bla bla bla" Now, we have Butch following the same pattern! Well, those players should be parents of Jr. High kids by now and all these great recruits should be winning us NCs! No more year zero and other slogans because as of last year Butch and the team got rung all season long beginning with Oregan and let GA off the hook and that's not counting the loss against Fla. I say no more excuses and no more pumping sunshine!
Where does this negativity come from? An Alabama fan in drag? Listen, dude, we are about to embark on what could be a break through season for our football team after a bunch of bummers. The fans and the players need optimism not a BS statement like yours!

I, like a lot of fans, am plain tired of hearing all of tye excuses going back over a decade. Same ole' junk from youth, inexperience, lack of talent, depth, breaks not going our way, schedule, bla bla bla, etc.... Pumping sunshine isn't winning any games either neithef is bragging about recruiting classes! If I wanted that or to hear about that all I would have to do is plug in and turn on my PS3! As a fan I want results and those results I'm talking about are wins! Not close games or bragging rights on recruiting classes and certainly not EXCUSES! And, not stinking the field up like the last four years! Butch is getting paid 3 mil to produce! Not talk!

O....M......G.....!:banghead2::p You seriously have some issues! You either have no idea about the intricacies of how college football works (especially in the SEC) or you are acting like a total window licker just for laughs! Either way, you are making a fool of yourself. Your argument makes no sense. Tell me when Coach Jones has ever tried to make an excuse about the young players on this team? Don't worry......I'll wait....... Tell me when he has ever tried to make an excuse about losing a game last year. Don't worry....I'll wait on that one too. I'll go ahead and give you the answer. He hasn't. Plain and simple. He's always stated that losing would not be tolerated for any reason. But, you must have missed that conversation as well.

You should probably go clean your room and plug in your PS3 and let the grown ups talk about football.

You are an Alabama fan with a false identity trying to screw up this board. Go holler Roll, Tide and get off of Rocky Top, Big Snout!

I went to the utsports website and counted 55 freshman, redshirt freshman and sophomores on the roster.

I don't know how many are walkons of those 55, but that's a lot.

Say what you want, but this season "youth" is a legitimate cause for concern.

The youngest team in the nation last year was SC by a wide margin. Love him or hate him, but Spurrier won 11 games with that youth. Youth as an excuse is overrated. Coaching needs to step it up, there is plenty of talent at UT to win games and stay competitive against the big dogs. Getting pistol whipped by top teams and losing to teams like Vandy with their talent level is not acceptable, it is getting out coached. I have made this point several times, but Georgia Southern went into the Swamp with 1-2 star kids, threw 4 passes and left with a W. It is called coaching and maxing out your talent. Now comes all the naysayers that will point out that SOS lost to Butch at Neyland last year, which he did. He still won 11 games with the youngest team in the nation, and finished ranked 4th.

Just how many of you were on here saying the exact same thing about Dooley? And, even worried that he was going to leave because he was doing such a good job and take over at GA? Then you get on here and dog him out? Wasn't he recruiting all these big time 5 stars to? Didn't CLK decimate the program to?

Dont feed the troll
Really, Vol "fan", don't you think it's a little early to be dogging the coaching staff and the team before the season even starts? I was sitting on the forty yard line, row 3, at the Vandy game when Tennessee and us celebrated the win until the spot was challenged. That;s how close Butch Jones and company were to being 6-6 and in a bowl game. Go practice your "law" somewhere else along with your Bama buddy!

When coaches leave or get fired, kids leave the program or get sent packing to make room for the next coach's recruits. So basically our program has hit the reset button three times in 5 years. It takes a long time to build quality depth. Lane Kiffin's year was a wash since like 4 guys from his recruiting class made it to their senior year. Dooley, well you know how he recruited. And Butch is tearing it up on the recruiting trail so far but it won't fix everything overnight. These facts are not difficult to understand.[/QUOTE]

Apparently they are because we still get threads like this about every other day.

:eek:hmy::blink:

I agree its early to be dogging the coaches. That is why I stated we should not "feed the troll" on this thread who is dogging the coaching staff.

Confused why you pounced on my comment?

Not feeding a troll. I'm talking about all the "talk" excuses that have been given and, oh yes, CBJ has done his share of having excuses to!

Im high on CBJ and ready to see what he can do with some talent. BUT He does start ALOT of sentences with well, we are young, but we are getting better. Why say your young every interview.

It's a popular or perhaps favorite excuse. I've heard it all the way back to the Fulmer days and seems every year since.

And if it doesn't go downhill from there.........

I actually don't expect it to. The guy I originally responded to said that reality would set in at OU and then things would go downhill afterwards. I expect OU to be a tough game but for Jones to continue to coach his team up and get a good win plus the ones he should get... putting UT at 6-8 wins.

Now you add season going downhill and nobody said that. Maybe you should focus on what others and you post.
Please look at post #30 in this thread. Nevermind, here's what Countvolcula said: Reality will soon set in as soon as we go to Norman

It will be close for awhile, then depth and youth will haunt us in the 2nd half

As the season goes on, it will get worse

As the season goes on, it will get worse. You see that, right? Worse than what? In context the only answer is the "reality" that will set in when UT plays OU.

I think that's pretty much "downhill".

If Butch is forced to play even more young players that should be redshirting due to depth issues as we go into another brutal schedule means nothing in regards to Butchs or any coaches ability to win in the long run, especially in yr 2 with half the underclassmen as under. Zero. You said it "will point strongly" to failure.

EVERY team has injuries and EVERY team replaces players. ALL OF THEM. Mizzou replaces 14 starters and only returns 39 lettermen this fall. Their talent pool for replacing those players isn't nearly as rich as UT's. But you seem to be suggesting it would not be a statement about coaching ability if UT loses that game. Right?

Dude...your just wrong...you've been here a while and have a bunch of posts...but your just wrong. just another delusional fan who expects turnarounds to happen overnight.

Who said anything at all about an overnight turnaround? I have said I'd be satisfied with 6 wins this fall. One additional win is hardly an a "delusional fan who expects turnarounds to happen overnight".

The true delusion is that less than six wins would a) be a step in the right direction or b) not be a reason to get VERY concerned about the coaching ability of this staff.

I LIKE what they're doing in development. I LOVE Jones' emphasis on execution over complexity. But he still needs to prove he can win games.
