Enough about the coaches...

Oh yeah that was a solid one also. I remember hearing."Tennessee is Back! Tennessee IS Back" when we started romping. Little did we know what was coming after that season.

Not sure if they were favored but Rick Clausen and #10 ranked Tennessee vs #4 LSU in 05. Down 21 to nothing at halftime and on the road. Final score 30-27 Vols in overtime.

What's your favorite Vols upset win?

Mine's UF 1998. Still got the goalpost.

I don't see that game as an upset. We win that game like we should have. Mine would be the comeback win against Notre Dame inni think 91. That was a hell of a Notre Dame team.

Rushing the field in 98 was the most amazing moment.

So I’ve still got the front page from the News Sentinel in plastic in my office when we rushed the field after Bama in 82 and took down the goal posts. The pic is of the south end zone horizontal bar going down Cumberland by Greve Hall (my freshman dorm). Guess who is on the back end holding it up 😬

2001 Florida. Period. I enjoyed the heck out of the 5 OT win Tuscaloosa in 2003 as well, even though it wasn’t an upset technically.

1982 win against Bear Bryant on his last visit to Neyland Stadium. Got to help take the south goal post down, it was a glorious day in TN football history.

Favorite in my lifetime: UF 98

Favorite ever: Sugar Vols beating the Holy Grail that was Miami.

Absolutely. No competition even by the NC win.

It's a real shame we've cheapened the real bowl games for the opportunity to "crown" a number one and with corporate participation bowls.

You should be ashamed of yourself for rushing the field. I was embarrassed that night in Knoxville for out fans that ran down on the field. As if it was like some huge upset

As to the OP.....no question.......1986 rout of Miami in the Sugar Bowl

1986 Sugar Bowl-Miami
The Vols actually played the whole 60 minutes that night. I was there. It was a pleasure. I broke a chair in the Super Dome that night walking on the chairs.
If you look closely at the tape, when the Vols came through the T that night my name is on the scoreboard in the upper left hand corner of the screen and my buddies name is below it.

I'm gonna look for it next time I watch the game :hi:

1/4/99 - I was on the 40 yard line for the national championship game Tennessee Vs. Florida State. The kept doing that chop all game long and then in the third quarter all of the sudden all the Tennessee fans stood up and did the chop. FSU fans were stunned and STFU for the rest of the game, best game I have ever seen live. UT 23, fsu 16, Also the 1985 Sugar Bowl, Tennessee vs. # 2 Miami was the biggest upset ever, I was on the 35 yard line right behind the UT bench, that was a fun time in my life. UT 35 Miami 7. New Orleans was partying all night and the sea of Orange was on the Quarter was amazing. GO VOLS!!! Cover The spread today... PLEASE.

What do you mean still got the goalpoast?

It fell into my arms when I stormed the field. We walked it out of the stadium and down the strip and then up to Highland? Where the fire department was. Thinking because drunk euphoric fans think every fire department has the jaws of life... Lucky a fireman there had a saw in his truck and cut us all a slice. Pretty dang Epic.
