Enough about Layla Kiffin.....really

Maybe it's just me, but I've grown REALLY tired of seeing anything about Layla Kiffin.

She's not in any way involved in recruiting, in getting a group of coaches together, in forming an offensive or defensive system, or in gameday decisions.

All this talk about how she looks or anything else like that is both ridiculous and more than a bit trashy. We pride ourselves on knowing a thing or two about the game of football and being at least semi-intelligent fans, and yet there's just been comment after comment (after thread) about her.

So let's all give it a rest and encourage our fellow UT fans (who aren't on here) to do likewise. Leave the horndog crap to Bammers.
Young guys and hormones are a deadly combo even on a message board...The younger guys will somehow makes some avatars of her soon...You watch! :eek:lol:

lol...And how many thousdands of anti-Fulmer threads were there? We al know no one acted childish and stupid in those....she's one of the newest members of the Vol Family and she's very easy on the eyes...at least we are talking positive about someone for a change!
Yeah. That's why she's being talked about so much. Because she's "new to the family."

Believe it or not, women are just as bad. What's the first thing a woman notices about another woman? And I'd say that the older guys are just as bad, maybe worse than the younger guys. You're never too old to notice a beautiful woman but making a fool of yourself is the same no matter how old/young you are. It's better than if Layla wasn't good looking and everybody was complaining about how ugly she is. And you know there would be people doing it.

Some are slaming the rest of us for talking about and some are even "drooling" her....but judging by the stats of the two main threads about her EVERYONE is either talking about her or posting in the threads.

As I type this reply the stats for the two threads are;

That's unreal for over 30,000 views and these numbers I'm sure will double or triple by the end of the weekend..lol....Saying postive things about someone is no worse than slaming our coaching staff or players on our boards. I guess those threads are okay as long as you are "discussing" topics? If that many people are upset about these threads move them to "The Pub" or something.

I don't feel like quoting every post I'll respond to, so I'll just go point-by-point.

1) If someone has an avatar of a stripper, girl in a bikini, or whatever else, it's a reflection on them and them alone.
2) My own username title (Throbbing Member) was a play on the fact that it was originally "member". Notice my own avatar is my dog, who I most certainly am not aroused by.
3) If Layla Kiffin were a public figure in her own right (actress, singer, whatever) it would be one thing. But she's not; she's the wife of the head coach and, from what I can gather, that's about it. I know if I were in Kiffin's shoes and there were threads (and a website) started about my wife by fans of the team I'm coaching, I'd be looking for a plane out of town in a hurry.

In the meantime, here's some reading material for you that involves another recent female internet celebrity.

Congratulations, you completely missed the point that the original poster attempted to make. You see, the coaches actually have something to do with the game therefore opinions of them, good or bad, are understandable on, you know, a UT forum.

Conversely, I'm still trying to figure out what a coaches' wife and the subsequent drooling, fawning, and other ridiculousness has to do with anything related to the Vols.

I hope everyone who is jumping on the don't talk about layla bandwagon never has and never will bash Fulmer for his weight and Crompton for his supposed IQ. Those insults are the definition of disrespect.

Fumler and Crompton chose to be in the public eye, when they became college coaches and players. IMO families didn't make that choice, wife, kids, etc.

What fantasy world do you live in where a thread on a message board about a coach's wife being hot scares him away? Seriously?? If Lane Kiffin is forming his opinion of the entire UT fanbase based on a few off-color posts then he has no business being a coach here. Geez, get over it. Making a play on words about "throbbing member" is fine but commenting on someone's looks isn't? I'd say that your play on words is much more vulgar and perverted. Luckily, I don't give sh**.

She was at the press conference taking pictures! I'm sure she knows that she's in the public eye. Her dad played professionally and her brother coaches. I'm sure she can handle it. Since when is a comment about looks an invasion of someone's privacy?

Your story would almost hold water if Crompton was a professional. Almost.

She has chosen to be a public figure. Those pictures of her holding her girls were part of a Bay Area newspaper article specifically on her. I'm not saying she's all about the attention, but she did agree participate in the article.

I also sure she knows she's "hot" too. Trust me, she knows.

Copied from the original Rocky Top thread...

Guys and Gal or two,

I started this thread as a joke last night before going to bed. I wanted to see how many times I would get flamed.

This morning, I didn't couldn't 'fess up because between this and the "Enough about Layla" thread, I was laughing too hard to type.

First, I too am amazed at all of the attention our new coach's VERY attractive wife is getting. I am also a little shocked at the folks that have said the would "do her" and the ones that actually referred to her as a MILF or a PILF (I think I saw that one used on this board and can make up a meaning). If y'all want to post stuff saying my wife is hot, I am all for it. The MILF stuff and "do her" would not be totally appreciated, but I certainly wouldn't quit my job or break red on you for it.

Now about Mrs. Kiffin... She's smoking hot. Absolutely gorgeous at 8 mos pregnant. Many say the she is not a public figure and is therefore off limits. I believe if she shares in the spoils of being our football coach ($2+ mill a year), then we may feel free to compliment her (didn't I read something a few weeks back about some duties or obligations of some lady named Peterson?). She has grown up in the business. You think she got the job as the Bucs’ special events coordinator just because of her telephone skills? She was John Reaves daughter. She’s been an NFL coach’s wife. You think the Raider Nation was kinder and gentler to her?

Her name… Layla, for those of you that don't know (who ever would have imagined that anyone with an internet connection wouldn't know) is the title of a VERY famous rock song. It was written by Eric Clapton (a VERY famous rock musician) about a girl named Pattie Harrison who was married to Eric's good friend George Harrison (he was in a VERY famous group called the Beatles). It is a song about unattainable love. Clapton was in love with his buddy George's wife and wrote the song for her (the love wasn't actually unattainable since they had an affair and later married). It is a very powerful song about a girl that the writer says will lead to his insanity, so as listeners, you must assume she is pretty hot (and by looking at some old pictures of Pattie, she was). You can read all about it at Layla by Derek and the Dominos Songfacts.

Now that we got that out of the way, we have to realize that her parents (the Reaves) were Clapton fans and actually named her for the song (like naming a girl born in the eighties Roxanne). It is a very uncommon name that 75% or more of the people that hear it will be reminded of the song about the hot girl named Layla (like our Mrs. Kiffin). If you want to blame someone for this poor girl's burden, you can start with her parents.

Other humorous bits...

I purposely named the thread something scandalous and kind of off topic. I did that because I get tired of others doing the same thing. It was funny, though. How many of you urgently clicked the thread to see what that young gun coach thought he was up to?

How many guys actually thought I wrote the lyrics and wanted to sing them to the tune of Rocky Top? That is unfathomable.

I found it most humorous that guys with avatars with girls on stripper poles, or thong shots and names like throbbing member were so quick to accuse me of making the Volnation look like Jerry Springer Trailer Trash. You guys have been doing that a lot longer than the 15 months that I have been a member.

And for TennesseePride wanting to check my “fandom”… Replacing Rocky Top would be like replacing God Bless America or the Marine Hymn. It just ain’t never gonna happen. The fact that any of you took it seriously shows how delirious things have become.

In closing…

Like a couple of folks have said, it is early December and we are not going bowling. We have a long time to wait until we see the commitments and until spring practice. This coaching change has gotten everyone strung about an octave too high.

Y’all just chill out.

Everything’s going to be okay.

Go Vols!
