Engagement Ring

AJ- I know it’s been mentioned before, but get the insurance. I’d talk to the insurance carrier prior to buying too and figure out what their procedure is. I ran into a problem with Farm Bureau…..once I bought the ring, it went on my homeowners policy as a line item. However, once I gave it to her, according to Farm Bureau, it was a gift to her and therefore would need to be transferred to her policy. I thought it was a bunch of crap, and most insurance companies don’t do it that way. Thankfully, she was also with Farm Bureau. So I proposed on a Saturday, and then Monday had to get it transferred at the local office. Had she not been with Farm Bureau, I couldn’t imagine the headache. Because of that situation, coupled with many other reasons, we transferred insurance carriers.
Btw, I took her to Jared’s to have her look at the ring she wanted, then went back the next day and bought it. Worked out for the best. There’s an advantage in going to a big store, as opposed to the mom and pops….there’s a maintenance and repair program. Can come in handy.
Best of luck to you!

I am on this journey as well OP

going today to talk to jeweler about payments and getting the ring that I want

I know that it is the ring that wifey wants, but I'm seriously closing on this thing today.

I am excited, and anxious. Excited because it's something I want to do, anxious because I get that way when I shell out big bucks.

It's for a great thing though, and I know I won't care about the money anymore as soon as I see her face when I pop the question.

Good luck brother. Spend it now while you still can.

Somebody mentioned Service Merchandise earlier. I remember hearing my mom tell someone about a lady she worked with getting engaged. He bought the ring at Service Merchandise, and when they had it appraised by an independent jeweler he offered them three times the cost on the spot.

It's all in knowing what you have, as far as cost. But value is measured in a lot of different ways.

10,000 for a 1 ct. diamond ? Dude they ripped you, they sale on ebay all day for $39.99 and my wife loves hers. And whoever said money is the #1 cause for divorces ? Wrong, getting caught is #1 ......
