Enemy of the People

We all get put through the ringer, we all get put through the meat-grinder in this town, and you’re no exception and I’m sorry that happened to you. I wish that had not happened,” Acosta said.
“But for the sake of this room, the people that are in this room, this democracy, this country… the president of the united states should not refer to us as the enemy people," Acosta said. "His own daughter acknowledges that, and I’ll I’m asking you to do, Sarah, is to acknowledge that right now and right here.
We attached you without remorse. So now we demand you to not paint us as the villain.

I do wish the media was a better friend to the citizenry. They are supposed to be the fourth estate protecting and informing us. But when everything Trump does is the end of the ****ing world (and it never is), they aren’t serving us anymore. It’s fearmongering and unrestrained bias and everything else we don’t need from journalists.

"I’ve addressed this question, I’ve addressed my personal feelings I’m here to speak on behalf of the president. He’s made his comments clear," Sanders said.
Acosta tweeted a short time later that he was so bothered by Sanders's remarks that he walked out of the briefing before it ended.

Wonder if Jim does what his boss tells him to do? Maybe he should just keep on walking..

Not going to gum things up with another thread on media issues, so will just put this here.

Fox News has been absolutely obsessed this week with covering the disappearance of this young woman, a U of Iowa student, Mollie Tibbets. Other networks or outlets have stories on it, and it should be covered to hopefully find her. But, it has really stuck out to me that Fox has story after story about this and it is odd to me since disappearances unfortunately occur routinely. There is some reason that Fox is so focused on this. Anyone else seeing this?

Maybe a missing person is more important than the press’s hurt feelings?

Fox is also the only network to give legit coverage of the soldiers remains that have come home. Any explanation of that? You know, promise made, promise kept and all.

If I’m not mistaken the other media outlets ranged in coverage time from 0-59 seconds on it . Fox covered it all . Now why would one outlette cover such an amazing thing and the rest not ?

Journalism is an important check on corruption. The case of Scott Pruitt is an example of that. Pruitt would still be head of the EPA without the efforts of the free press to expose his wasteful and self serving spending... and finally, when you say that "they" aren't serving "us" anymore? What you really mean is that "the main stream media" isn't serving "unconditional Trump supporters". If you want unconditional Trump support from the press? Watch Fox News and Sinclair Broadcasting local news or read The Washington Times, The New York Post, The National Review, The Daily Caller and Breitbart. You can also get your polling information from Rasmussen. You have many other options. Nothing requires you to spend even one minute with the main stream media. So, why do you care what they report or how they report it? For that matter, why does Trump seem to care so much? He already only watches Fox News anyway.

I agree that the media is supposed to be the Check against ANY and ALL corruption .why wouldn’t a president care if the main outlets of media are all learning away from his party ? That’s like saying why would a partisan group like CNN care what the president says about them . It’s supposed to be a symbiotic relationship . That’s not possible when 90+ % of your coverage is negative . And it’s very obvious from the ratings .

The question I haven’t seen asked or answered is ... why is there such a disparity between Fox’s ( fair and balanced ) ratings and CNN’s ( the most trusted word ) ratings ? The first being Top in cable news , the second behind the food network channel . Do we just ignore that all together or is there a cause and effect going on ? Do all conservatives watch Fox or is it that Dems don’t watch News anymore ?

No... Trump claims that The New York Times is failing (they aren't). If he really believes that... why does he care what they report?

Fox News has no competition for conservative viewership. MSNBC and CNN compete with each other. And I believe that Maddow's show is currently in 3rd place with about 2.67 million viewers per night (just slightly behind Carlson for 2nd) even though she misses at least one night a week.

...and that "fair and balanced" mantra is obviously BS.

Have they run hit pieces on him before he was president or now that he is ? That would be my guess as to why he cares . He’s not a put your head in the sand kinda person , I believe I heard him say if you punch me I’ll punch you back twice as hard . I will say The NY Times has been running some interesting pieces lately , I actually look at them on thursdays and fridays if something big is coming they will usually break it then .
