Lee Trevino , David Graham and Justin Rose disagree with you...not to mention all the USGA champions that have won their championship there and also the members.
I'm sure the pros would have kind words about it. It's not to their benefit to criticize. But, because they feel one way and I feel another doesn't make either of us right or wrong. What do you think you'd shoot on that course the way it was set up today? Honestly.
I would describe the whole golf course as manipulated, Johnson said.
It just enhances my disdain for the USGA and how it manipulates golf courses, Johnson said in this story at Golfchannel.com.
Asked if the setup were fair, Johnson said Not when luck is required. I think Merion is a great golf course, if you let Merion be, but that is not the agenda.
Min of 100 and I'm a 5 handicap. Doesn't make the course a POS.
Good for you, then. Are you taking into consideration lost balls that you'll never find, etc.? Counting lost ball strokes and at least at a minimum of two putting every green, I'd be lucky to break 120. Under normal day to day play, Merion might be a nice place to play. I don't know what it looks like when it's not used for big tournaments.
