Get out your spreadsheets....we'll give this a shot.

TEAM SELECTION

Choose six golfers from the priced player list below within your budget of 15pts. Your team must contain at least two (2) American and two (2) European team members.

US Roster & Point Values:

Jim Furyk - 3.5
Rickie Fowler - 3.5
Bubba Watson - 3
Jimmy Walker - 3
Matt Kuchar - 3
Jordan Spieth - 3
Zach Johnson - 2.5
Phil Mickelson - 2.5
Keegan Bradley - 2
Webb Simpson - 2
Hunter Mahan - 2
Patrick Reed - 1.5

European Roster & Point Values:

Rory McIlroy - 4
Sergio Garcia - 3.5
Henrik Stenson - 3.5
Justin Rose - 3
Martin Kaymer - 3
Victor Dubuisson - 3
Jamie Donaldson - 2.5
Graeme McDowell - 2.5
Ian Poulter - 2.5
Thomas Bjorn - 2
Lee Westwood - 2
Stephen Gallacher - 1.5

SCORING

Ten points are awarded to each player on the winning team of a foursomes or fourball match; five points are awarded to each player in a halved foursomes or fourball match.

Players on the winning team in foursomes and fourball matches are also awarded points for the margin of victory. For example, a win by 3&1 or 3&2 would both result in three bonus points, while a 5&3 or 5&4 victory would earn five bonus points. No points are deducted for players on the losing team.

All points above are doubled for the Sunday’s singles matches, so a player winning his singles match 4&2 would receive a total of 28 points – 20 points for winning and eight points for the four-hole victory margin.

TIEBREAKERS

#1 - US - European Point Differential (this would be a negative number if you believe the European team will win)

#2 - Points earned by Rory McIlroy (using the actual Ryder Cup scoring; not the scoring here)

#3 - Points earned by Rickie Fowler (using the actual Ryder Cup scoring; not the scoring here)

I'll update the standings each day. If I have messed something up, please point it out before Friday.

tl;dr

The Ryder Cup is a match play event, with each match worth one point. The competition format will be as follows:

Day 1 (Friday) – 4 foursome (alternate shot) matches and 4 fourball (better ball) matches
Day 2 (Saturday) – 4 foursome matches and 4 fourball matches
Day 3 (Sunday) – 12 singles matches

On the first two days there are 4 foursome matches and 4 fourball matches with the home captain choosing which are played in the morning and which in the afternoon.

With a total of 28 points available, 14½ points are required to win the Ryder Cup, and 14 points are required for the defending champion to retain it. All matches are played to a maximum of 18 holes. If a match is level after 18 holes each side is awarded half a point.

The Gleneagles Hotel, located one hour outside Edinburgh and set in grounds of 850 acres (340 ha; 1.33 sq mi) has undergone a major redevelopment programme, partly in preparation for the 2014 Ryder Cup.

The PGA Centenary Course, designed by Jack Nicklaus and one of three at Gleneagles, currently measures 7,262 yards (6,640 m) off the championship tees (Par 72).

Thanks for doing this 95. As usual you're on top of things. I'll give it a try.

Rickie Fowler - USA 3.5
Phil Mickelson - USA 2.5
Hunter Mahan - USA 2
Patrick Reed - USA 1.5

Lee Westwood - EU 2
Henrik Stenson - EU 3.5

Total: 15 points.

Tiebreaker #1: +1 (USA winning by 1 if i'm reading correctly)
Tiebreaker #2: 3 points by Rory
Tiebreaker #3: 2 points by Rickie

Hopefully I understood all of that correctly. I'll change it if needed. Thanks again.

Perhaps early, but props nonetheless to 95 just for attempting this. My head hurts just trying to figure it all out. I'm just going to laugh when he posts the 1st day scores and tells me to verify my score.

I used this format for the Presidents Cup. Seemed to go ok. I went from top of the leaderboard to finishing dead last on the final day.
