First year head coach takes us to a bowl, scores more points in the season than any other team. Tennessee was able to move the ball on everybody. He had little talent to work with. I think the future is bright. I think Heupel was a great hire and I’m excited to see the boys of fall next year. My expectations for 2022….8 wins, 2023 9 wins or more. I haven’t enjoyed a season this much since 2009. Go Vols!!!!!

I can see anywhere from 8-4 to 10-2, with 8-4 being the most likely. We still will not have a great defense unless we hit the transfer portal hard.

Love the offense. Defense I expect to be worst next season. I think we have a similar year next year as this year just beat Florida please

Need to address the defense immediately. Pass rush, LBs and corners all need help. Without that expect an 8-5 season.

No way, unless this football team toughens up...Having to win games via shootouts is not very reliable...

If the defense can improve at all I think we win 8 games next year. If they improve significantly then we have the ability to win 10.

Hoops maximized what I thought was possible at the beginning of the season. With hindsight, Ole Miss, Pitt and Purdue could have all been wins, and that is frustrating but 4-4 conference record was decent. I am glad that we have the #11 class on Rivals, which is also better than I expected. However, there are 5-8 teams that can easily leap frog us on NSD and we don’t seem to be making a lot of noise in the portal so far. Feels like this could be the start of something good or we may have just witnessed a repeat of 2010. I think the path we’re on has limits that are above where we are now but will come up short of being able to beat the likes of UGA and Bama, but that’s not to say that Hoops won’t transition to a more traditional offense that can drain clock and physically punish defenses if/when he gets the players.

tldr It was good, not great. Lots of questions left to be answered.

I need to see a lot next year. I am not impressed with CJH like most here are. disappointing year in my eyes considering talent and competition talent and losing games at home and to agaisnt a very average Purdue team

Considering talent? Please tell us about the talent on the defensive side of the ball and then discuss the level of depth.

Convince me that it will be better, show your work please
Many people on this board didn’t believe Heupel would win more than five games due to depth issues and playing well below 85 scholarship athletes. He overcame those issues by coaching what he had on hand up rather than down. Personally, it is hard to argue too much with the end result when you factor in all the obstacles. Give the staff time to upgrade the roster, build some continuity, and coach. Hell, we supported Dooley, Butch, and Pruitt ffs. Heupel did more than those guys in their first year.

The coaches inherited a dog $h!+ roster on defense. There isn’t a lot of talent to work with.

I am not dismissing Heupel or his accomplishments in any way at all, had a good first season, but the defense will lose a lot, especially the secondary, there are no freshmen or portal players who can come in and make a quick impact in that group that quickly. Also, who is going to get pressure on the QB next season. The Vols ranked 98th in total defense in 2021 and gave up 422 yards/game, based on the bowl game and the players that opted out and wont be coming back, their defense in my opinion will take a step back. Next year will not be the season TN breaks 9 wins, they may struggle to get 7.

It doesn’t really bother me too much that the defense is losing a lot. Most of the players leaving are not going to be playing on Sunday.

You’ll never get a quantifiable answer from him. He always dodges any request to back up his claim with any facts.
