Also I really don’t care if you’ve bought tickets for 50 years. My dollar is worth just as much as your dollar. Your right to enjoy the game, is the same as my right. I’m not gonna hold someone in high regards for going to games for 5 decades. You don’t get kudos for doing your job as a fan.

Everyone deserves the right to enjoy the game. Go be an adult, use your problem solving skills, and figure it out. If you can’t figure out how to enjoy the game with the people around you, you need to self reflect hard.

Why are YOU quoting my post and lecture with "you" a dozen times? Are you directing all of those snarky comments at me?

I'm talking about the OP and others that think they're better fans for standing DURING THE ENTIRE GAME. Luckily I usually don't have people in front of me pulling that chit. Personally I start standing once my view is being blocked and I make sure that the people right behind understand that I'm standing because my view is being interfered with. I hate the pogo people that jump up when something happens... in the middle of the play... that gets frustrating because they're sitting and then pop up (football) and I miss what just happened.

I don't "need to self reflect hard".

Just curious, were you apart of the generation that raised millennials? If y’all don’t like how millennals act, why did you raise them like that?? I mean y’all raised the softest generation ever and then ***** about it. It’s absolutely hilarious 😂.

No one wants to take responsibility for how millennials turned out. The best part about it is avoiding responsibility is about the most millennial thing I can think of, and y’all wonder where they got it from.

1) Stokely was a much better atmosphere and home court advantage for us even it was almost half the size.
2) TBA is a beautiful arena and can be loud when it’s full and fans get into it — we just don’t seem to have enough stay loud for long periods of time
3) announcers kept commenting on how UNC quieted the crowd.
4). Students used to sit in a small section in a corner— completely no impact on the game. Bruce got them moved under a basket where they can at least make a bigger difference (at least for one half)
5). When Xavier played here a few years ago, a bunch of their students sat under our basket and had all kinds of crazy hand signals during free throws — it was effective as we missed a bunch that day. Wish our students would coordinate like that and try to disrupt the other team at key moments

Whether you sit or stand, you can still clap your hands or yell. My 80 year mother was standing with her walker and yelling at the TV, so I’d expect the fans there live to be as vocal since they are our voice. I used to have season tix for basketball but gave them up after Pearl left — it’s just too far to drive in the middle of the week and have to work the next day, but I will get tix for a couple games and bring the family each year to support as best I can.

Students have had the section behind the basket since Jerry Green days. Ron Slay used to play to them hardcore.

Every generation complains about how spoiled and soft the younger generation is. Relax a little bit. Your generation isn't any better or worse than previous ones.

Were you even at the game or just watching it on TV? I was there and the crowd was awesome.. The atmosphere was electric and it was very loud , like back when Pearl had it rocking. Did fans stand the entire game? Of course not but name we one arena besides Duke where they do? There are a lot of schools that wish they could come close to having even half the support ( 21,678 fans) at a game. Find something else to complain about.

Really? Tex A&M is a top 10 ranked team and they are averaging 7,000 fans a game this season. Great " 12th man" ( even though that's for football but you said it). TENN gets credit for having almost 22,000 fans at a basketball game in a football conference.

I was at the game and was generally impressed with the crowd... particularly when Tennessee had the ball early on it became silent. This is an indication of a well educated basketball crowd. Then it got rowdy when UNC had the ball, especially at the student section end during the 1st half. The buzz during timeouts from the student section was electric when the DJ was playing. When the band started playing, not so much.

Many basketball schools have louder arenas. Obviously Duke and Kansas. Tennessee had more during the Pearl era. These fans seemed like abused puppies after this football season. They just sat there. Get up and make some noise. Or watch on TV. Once they got loud during a defensive stand and some hillbilly Gomer behind said "this is basketball not football. Why are you standing"? And that is the difference in a basketball school and a knucklehead football school.

And the great ones are both. They may prefer one as a whole, but theu succeed in both.

etc all seem to support both. Only schools like Auburn, Alabama, Georgia is basketball an after thought. Tennessee is close but they have good crowds. They simply do not know enough about the game (as evidenced by reading on here or listening to sports talk) to be good fans during the game.

At basketball schools, they could care a less about football. They might support it but it is much more of a social event then anything. Truth is, it is a social event at most football schools. Those that really care what happens are few and far between.

The next football exhibition season will be here. We will suffer through a couple of rough years while they fix this mess. But they will fix it.

Enjoy Barnes's boys in the mean time.

Last year when the UNC DB coach was coming here, a sports talk show called the guy that covers them. They asked his if the fans where upset that he was leaving. The guy laughed and said 99% of the fans could not tell you the DB coach's name not do they care.

It doesn't help that the average age of the lower arena, sideline seating is about 65+.

I know, I know, those people donated to build the arena, they earned that right, blah, blah, blah. My dad has those same seats too, and he's 69, but he doesn't sit on his hands just waiting to catch himself on the Kiss Cam. He is actively engaged as a fan, there to actually watch the game rather than socialize and rub elbows, and he cares about the outcome. Too bad he is the exception.

You had me until I saw TX A&M , Miami, and NC State on your list. Seriously? What has TX A&M , who btw is averaging 7,000 fans a game in basketball, ever done to be called a football school, much less a basketball one. How could Miami? LOL! NC State? Relevant in football?

Again, outside of maybe 3 schools on your list, the others couldn't come close to getting 22,000 fans for a basketball game.
