I wanted to see the results of this since one of my friends asked me this question. Would you rather us win the SEC Tourney or Make it to the Elite Eight? Thoughts?

I agree, I guess its one of those things that the SEC Tourney would be considered a "Championship" while the Elite Eight wouldn't be. However, I would want an Elite Eight more as well

There's no better experience in NCAA basketball than moving through the bracket through each weekend. The eyes of the entire basketball world are on you. No one pays attention to conference tournaments for the most part except die-hard fans of schools left in them.

Not that hard of a question. I would easily rather make it only to the sweet 16, as oppose to win the SEC Tourney then just lose in the first or second round and not even make it past the first weekend.

Need a little more info. Win the SEC championship means we’re white hot and would prob go to the elite 8 anyways.

If it’s between that or lose the sec championship and go to elite 8, I’m choosing the obvious.

Def don’t wanna win the SEC championship and get bounced in the first round by a 15 seed

Winning the SEC tournament would be awesome.

However Tennessee has been past the sweet 16 only once…….ever.

Matching the best tournament success of all time……..that would be huge for Tennessee. Heck make it to the elite 8 and you never know what might happen……..just one good game and bam your in the final four.

Elite 8. No question. The excitement that comes from advancing in the NCAA tournament is unmatched. When you reach the elite 8, out of 350 schools, you are 1 of 8 still playing. Everyone else is at home on the couch watching, wishing it was them. Outside of a bubble team fanbase or Kentucky’s fans, no one really cares about the SEC tournament. There’s more meaningful Bball left to play. Give me the elite 8 all day everyday and twice on sundays.

Or one basket from the final four. That game was a heartbreaker!

An Elite 8 and it isn’t even close

We are 11/14 teams in terms of postseason history in the SEC

Above Vanderbilt, A&M, and OM.

An Elite 8 or anything further is something that pays dividends more than an SEC Championship

11 of 14? Only Missouri, Arkansas, and Kentucky have been to more NCAATs than TN. Missouri has fewer Sweet 16s than TN. Only KY, Ark, FL, and LSU have more NCAAT wins.

Why is an Elite 8 the cutoff? It represents a loss in the regional finals. Only KY, FL, Arkansas, and LSU have multiple Final 4s. Barn, Miss State, GA, and USC have one lucky run each. TN joins them without a lucky bounce, a questionable foul, or a blocked shot in the paint by a POY.

USCe has fewer than half as many wins and games played in the NCAAT. But they had one lucky run.
