First-year Tennessee tight ends coach Larry Scott said Eli Wolf — who took down his older and much bigger brother (6-foot-5, 250 pounds) in a Circle of Life drill in spring practice — has made “tremendous strides” the past few months and absolutely will help the Vols on the field this fall.

“Sure, sure,” Scott said. “He’s a guy that’s made some great strides in his development as a tight end as a whole, not just a receiving tight end. He’s done a really good job of blocking and putting himself from a fundamental and technique standpoint in position to help us in that area with what we do in our scheme. He’s done a fantastic job, and Eli is a guy we feel has made some tremendous strides and can be instrumental in helping us this season.”

He'll get snaps this year. Especially in blowouts. Testament to hard work.

I think he's probably similar in talent to Brendan Downs. So glad that's our third string instead of starters now.

Glad he's getting some praise. He definitely deserves it if he's a hard worker like I hear he is. His brother is pretty good too.

The regular VN know it alls that have never played a down at any level.

HAHA,,,,, I would love to see them put the pads on and take the field against these players. Or better yet, get a team and coach against them in a game. It is the ones that constantly b*^#h and moan about EVERYTHING ALL THE TIME. The "know it alls" as you put it so well. It's ok to gripe some disagree some but not to do it in every single post. Anyway, I'm done griping about the gripers. Have a great day.

Agreed, I wonder how it will shake out between him and our two 2016 recruits in the next few years? Perhaps Brooks is the favorite if he recovers from injuries..

Yep. Special teams and garbage time only for Eli this year. Maybe he can find his way onto the field in 2017 if he keeps progressing.
