He's a bad dude. Does stuff like this: https://bustedcoverage.com/2015/10/26/vols-fan-bamas-eli-gold-slid-into-my-dms-hit-on-me/

There's a lot more, Deadspin had several women on the record after Eli was fired from his NASCAR job with MRN radio in the spring, but they backed off after they lost the Hulk Hogan lawsuit. Ended up putting out this weak story instead: Why Didn't Eli Gold Host His Radio Show This Week?

He made his Twitter account private after the story. There was a lot of talk that he was going to be dismissed from the Alabama broadcasts after the MRN stuff went down, but they stuck with him.

I'm a fan of that "other" football as well, and honestly in my opinion the best play by play guys in sports are on BBC radio. No where near John Ward great, but pretty solid.

Edit: a word

Bama fans love him. Swear he's better than John Ward ever was.

That sums up Bama in a nutshell. Take something crappy and stick that A on it and it's becomes the best ever.

A good example is that crappy houndstooth pattern. I swear - I see drapes and upholstery in cheap hotels with that pattern. The Bama girls wears skirts and scarfs with that and I just laugh at how ugly it is. Embrace the suck, Bama.

You're 100% correct about the houndstooth. I don't like Alabama but the ugliness of that pattern really has nothing to do with Alabama or Bear Bryant. It is one of the most aesthetically-unpleasing colors/patterns that exists. Looks bad on everything.

Pretty sure that wasn't a scientific survey you were quoting. Alabama fans can reach back and embrace our own great Bama radio storyteller, John Forney is our John Ward. Different time and a much more colorful, detailed approach, who both loved the teams they called the action for. John Ward, oh yeah I caught his act many a game on radio stations on Saturday night. Forney and Ward should be compared to their own greatness and the best of a bygone era.

As are many of our players and coaches, the difference being Gold has spent half of his long life in the South. What's your point?

Just pointing it out. Living in Nashville has made me appreciate Memphis and Knoxville a lot more.
