I live in Huntsville, and occasionally catch a radio broadcast of the tahd while driving around town.

He is godawful. You can listen ten minutes and have no idea where on the field the ball is. Only rarely announces down and distance. Etc. One of the worst, period.

Seriously, I have a hard time listening to Bob Kessling because of my memories of John Ward, but all it takes is to listen to any of the other SEC announcers to know that we really have it pretty good.

Yep. There are a ton of radio announcers like this.

I know some people don't like Mike Keith, but Keith does do an incredible job of painting a picture for you with his calls. Always know the down and distance, where a team is on the field, time left on the clock, which direction runs and passes go to, where on the field incomplete passes made it to, etc.

Auburn high school announcer comes to mind.

I have to admit folks...living just 20 minutes from Bloomington...I've listened to ol' Don Fisher at IU more than a couple of times.

IMO...closest there is to John Ward on the radio today.

Until he gets excited and screams. I've nearly careened my truck into a ditch listening to a game.
