Recently got into e-bikes. Purchased my 1st one last year. I know some cities are offering rebates for purchasing e-vehicles, which includes bikes. Austin offers about 600 back, which is really nice.

I got the Wired Freedom. Great bike, decent battery (60v) and the hub motor can push 35-8MPH - biggest pro is the price, biggest con is size of the bike. Not a good bike if you are under 5'10.

What yall ridin' out there?

Not quite an e-bike but I also own one of these. Waaaaay too much torque for a beginner but an incredibly fun ride

Bronx Man Dies in NYC Apartment Fire, Second Sparked By Lithium-Ion Battery in as many weeks: officials

A 34-year-old man died in a blaze sparked by a lithium-ion battery that ripped through a Bronx apartment late Thursday — the second death in as many weeks caused by the dangerous devices, officials said.

The fire broke out around 11:50 p.m. on the third floor of the three-story building on Beaumont Avenue near Grote Street in Belmont, about two blocks from the Bronx Zoo, the FDNY said.

Photos released by the FDNY show the errant device – which was charging inside an apartment when it exploded into flames – and the moped it was meant to power, kept outside.

Have had several. My original was/is a Juiced (online brand) beach cruiser. Newest is a Specialized FS Levo - it's awesome.

I love them. Great invention.
You went from a beach cruiser to an off-road bike? Care to expound?

beach cruiser was years ago when e-bikes were less common. used it at our beach condo for bopping around.

for local riding i went through a hard tail MTB and a recreational (no suspension bike) but realized the most bike riding I did in my life was a MTB platform so I bought that last. I swapped some handlebars to get a little more comfort (I'm in my 60s) but it does everything I need.

i'll keep the beach cruiser for nostalgia and its fun for flat paved rides or for a friend

An 80-year-old nursing home resident in Minnesota died after she was found 'fully engulfed' in flames in her electric scooter.

The woman was found Tuesday outside of the Boundary Waters Care Center in Ely after emergency services responded to a 911 call just after 4.30pm.

The victim, whose identity is yet to be released, was found covered in flames before staff members were able to remove her from the scooter, according to the Ely Police Department.

It's unclear what caused the fire.
