Well, until the Trustees and/or Hamilton start asking for our advice, we have two choices:

1) Get behind the program and whoever is named coach
OR
2) Keep complaining and bellyaching.

Since I have no control over the decision, I chose to instead control my reaction and wish the new guy the best of luck. Go Vols!

Just have some faith Papa!! We all, including myself, fell for the big hire crap with Kiffin and look where it has landed us. Just give whomever we get as HC, a chance to prove themselves. The problem is everyone wants instant gratification like Alabama. We all know that doesnt happen. Even Bama went through those lean times. Every program does. Its just not us. Things take time. Just keep our heads up. WE ARE TENNESSEE!!

Go Vols!!!!

Half right I guess. It was Louisiana-Monroe that beat Saban if I recall, and yes, Saban was at bama in 07.

I respect you...but you know this class was screwed the second Ki**in left......and next yrs class.
Time for UT to start from scratch....much like they we did when Majors was hired. A few down (really down) yrs, but...things will change!!!! FAITH MAN!!!!! Gotta Have IT!!!

100% right actually. I'm not the one who said LTech beat Saban, that was someone else. I simply stated that Saban coached at Bama in 07.

I think giving whoever a chance is what put us in this POT to begin with, I'm the first to say I was all about Kif, and I agree we need to give th next HC time and patience, but that doesn't mean just start picking randoms out of a bowl. Doesn't anybody LOVE US!?!

I never considered Kiffin to be a "big hire". I considered him to be a dark horse at best. I'm not happy with this new hire at all though. I think if anyone says that the new coach is as high a quality hire as they expected.......well they just had low expectations.

That said, it is what it is I guess. I'll support the guy and hope for the best, but with low expectations.

Man, I'm all for rolling with Kippy and letting him do his thing. If we're not going to hire who we believe to be the guy, then Kippy is the guy. If we're settling, which a Dooley hire is IMO, then we're making really stupid decisions that we have to be committed to.

Making the best of what we've got lets us take a bite at this apple under much better circumstances.

Kiffin boned us, but we don't have to double down for the douchebag.

That said, I'm not a fan on a personal level either.

Yeah, as an LSU fan I can really laugh at someone else football coach hire you f-ing dolt! Mid major LaTech (Shreveport) is located about directly in the center of OU, Utexas, LSU, Arkansas, and Ole Miss in all directions give or take a few hundred miles. Can't believe he's not pulling top 25 recruiting classes every year. You guys are clueless.

Not because we are most likely going to hire Derek Dooley but because of our so called "fans." Half the people on her do not know **** about the man. If i were a coach and looked at this board there is no way in hell that I would ever come coach at a university with such ignorant fans. I am guessing the majority of the people ripping in Dooley are the ones that didn't want Calhoun based on the fact that they didn't want the option at UT. All of you are idiots and PRAY TO GOD that you all jump ship. So please all of the REAL fans lets get behind this man, or whoever it is, and get back to the top.

I agree with giving the guy a chance but the "Real" fans don't expect to lose statement may be the worst I've ever read. Real fans hope to win every game but understand when the team is over matched, Delusional fans expect to win every game regardless of the situation.

What is so funny is the majority of the ones that do nothing but bash every move UT makes are the ones that if you go to the Ticket Forum are begging for free tickets or trying to buy 2 tickets to the Florida, Alabama game etc... for $25 a pair because they still live in their parents basement and contribute nothing to the university!

I for one am sadly disappointed with this hire!! Job should have been given to Kippy Brown and if Kippy wants to hire Dooley to be Recruiting Coordinator, Asst. Head Coach/CIW, that's fine!

But Dooley has done nothing to deserve being given this position! 4-8 in the WAC last year?? Give me a break!!

Hamilton better be gone before the end of the week!

(I'm a UT fan and always will be, I will still watch the VOLS and I will still pull for the Vols!! I will even pull for our coach, whoever he is, but I'm going to need some time to get over this hire!!!)

Oh please. We've been waiting since 1998 for a conference title. We have just had our program set back about 5 years. I don't blame anyone here who is downright furious with the current situation.

i was thinking the samething. should have hired houstons coach. i will root dooley on, but i feel he is the wrong man for the job. i know hamilton is the wrong man for the AD job.

You can sit her and tell me you KNOW this is a bad hire? really because i would really like to get in on this looking glass or whatever it is you have. What is sad is that people like you would want him to do bad just so that you will be right. You are going to tell me that is a fan? Yes, be mad about the situation but that is not Dooley's fault in the least bit. Everyone should be behind him helping us get out this current situation, not the opposite.

That is only because you are one of them. Most of the people on here have judged Dooley as a failure before he has had a chance to coach a game. I'm sure you'll all come back when he has us an SEC title in about 4 years. It could happen. No one against him is allowing for that possibility.

Wow...I was kind of upset about this hire myself but now that I've read this Knute Rockne speech thread, I'm suddenly feeling great about this coach. No wait, great feeling going away...nope, I still don't like the hire.
