because I have never seen the amount of bandwagon fans in my life. Why in the world do you all even dirty the stands of Neyland Stadium with your presence?

"If they hire so and so, I wont be a UT fan"
"Tennessee Football is over"
"Worst Day in UT history"
"Wah, Wah, Sob, Sob"

Get over yourselves and grow up. Dooley comes highly recommended by other coaches. You know, the people who actually know a thing or two about what it takes to be one, unlike most on this site. Yes he was 17-21 and Kiffin was sub .500 before he got here. Whats your point? He has brought a program back, that was run into the ground by its former staff. He has a lot more to work with at UT. He has recruited under Saban, knows the south well. He has great pedigree.

If even half of you knew what you were actually talking about, it would be amazing. Posting on a website about Football doesnt make you an authority on coaching hires. If it did, then some of you need to figure out why you are in your current state of employment. Should I continue?

The fact of the matter is, if you are a fan, you will support the team and get behind the next coach. If not, then so be it. You wont be missed.

I have been a UT fan longer than some of you Internet Lombardis have been alive and will continue to be no matter what happens. I will wear my orange T with pride because it stands for more than wins and losses.
Something most of you wont ever understand.

I was about to come in this thread and thrash you, (the title missled me a bit) but I am relieved to see you feel as I do. People need to chill.

That was my intention, so as to lure some of those negative "I dont like Tennessee if they dont hire who I want" fans.

Too bad there are a bunch of others with Craniorectal Collision Disorder right now to agree; anyone not trashing the hire is "on their high horse".

it happened when Kiffin was hired we are always going to get fans that spam it up. I support Tennessee Football and will continue to support UT football. I'm all for giving anyone a chance.

The level of entitlement of the vol fans on this board the last 2 days has been ridiculous.

People keep on talking about, what UT deserves, what the fans deserve, etc...

I mean, who was Fulmer before he was head coach? He was no one, just a coordinator. He had no HC experience whatsoever.

Don't let the morons get you down. If you love this program as most of us do, then just go with your own gut feeling.
My gut feeling is that Dooley will do well at UT. Still, I was prepared to support whoever got the job.
Go Vols!!!

I will hit this in as many threads as possible. I'm an LSU alum who's lived in TN for 7 years now. Dooley is hands down a better head football coach than Kiffin. UT will be a class act, better coached team and will not slip one step in recruiting.

To anyone considering not attending this year because of a coaching hire: Feel free to send your tickets to me. I've sat through great seasons and I've sat through miserable seasons. If you're out - stay out when things get rolling again.

I'm not going to proclaim this man a terrible coach before he ever walks the sidelines and coaches a game for us. I will admit that I am underwhelmed but expected a hire like this given the circumstances. Bottom line is he will have to win me over, I'll always support this team and give the coach in place the benefit of the doubt until I am proven wrong. We will see what this guy can do over the next few years.

Being my 2nd post I am a die hard fan and rarely post but do get humor in reading SOME of the threads - others tend to make me think that we need to screen the UT gene pool.

First I would like to say/ask - was Lane Kiffin employeed at the time he was hired? He did come into UT with a roar but as he left the sound was deafening.

I think what he did in the short term was what UT needed - a swift shot in the arm - but now we need stability.

Second I want to know that if Dooley is the coach this was not a revenge hiring from MH thinking he was getting back at USC by hiring someone from Los Angeles Tech to show we have some cajones

UT is a tough sell - we as fans want instant gratification. I, like a lot of UT fans grew up with only 2 coaches in UT football history and we have been spoiled. I hope this does not turn into history repeating itself as was the case for Alabama just a couple of years ago when they went through a coaching carousel.

WHATEVER person becomes the next HC at UT we will stand by and support as we have for years. If that person does not meet expectations - then start over.

As for the fans that have reported 10-15 coaches have accepted the job only to be disappointed - SHUT UP - and wait till it is announced. If the coach that is hired upsets you enough that you will stop supporting UT football then so be it.

This may set us back a little but in a couple of years we will be back on track.

GO VOLS

I absolutely agree with the count.....you are or you are not.....the bandwagon to USC has left the building. If Derick is anything like his dad, the vols are in for some exciting football......count on it (no pun intended)
I AM PROUD TO BE A VOLS FAN...ALWAYS HAVE BEEN AND ALWAYS WILL!!!

Dooley To Receive Paul “Bear” Bryant Lifetime Achievement Award - Official Athletics Site of the University of Georgia Bulldogs

One Day after his Dad receives the "Bear Bryant" lifetime achievement award for his "great accomplishments" at Georgia, we hire his son as the University of Tennessee's next Head Coach? I think a lot of us are concerned about loyalty, and keeping the tradition we have here at Tennessee.

I don't think ANYBODY wants to be in this position again, EVER. Maybe Dooley is a good hire, or maybe he picks up and moves to athens when Richt gets fired next year.

I have said all along that I will support whoever the new coach is until he gives me a reason not to while he is the coach at UT. IOW, I will judge him on what he does here and not on the past.

I also said that it doesn't matter who we hire. 80% of the people on here were not going to be happy regardless of who it was.

the fact that i bleed orange does not depend on who we hire. As far as that goes, imo 17-20 at La tech ain't to shabby. They have sucked as far back as i can recall. You give a coach with that record, at that school, the talent that we have? i think he will be just fine and dandy!! But whoever it is, NO MATTER WHAT, I STILL BLEED ORANGE!! GO VOLS!!
