Had to work but watched most of the second half, and what I could of the first half at work. The holding has been absolutely crazy the past two weeks. If the Refs are that bad they should lose their job, but honestly the holding is so bad I can’t chalk it up to anything other than they are allowing it to happen. The players are frustrated, coach Heupel is frustrated. Is this just how it’s going to be the rest of the year??

Also will reporters stop asking Heupel about penalties?? It obviously pisses this man off and anybody, especially people who watch the trenches, see it’s going on. No need to ask the question, and idk if it’s the same guy or different guys, but it almost seems like they’re trying to bait him into saying something about it. I think silence is the best response, because obviously sending film into the SEC does absolutely nothing

I think he wants that question so he can answer it exactly like he is. Maybe he should scream at officials like Saban and Stoops do?

The bigger problem I have with the lack of holding calls and flags in general is the ones they're throwing on UT by comparison. They should call both sides the same way. They aren't.

Steve Marlowe was the referee for this game. He was the referee for the infamous 2019 South Carolina game, possibly the worst officiated game that we have ever suffered through and won. We always have problems with Marlowe.

MY guess is that our hurry-up style of play makes their job much more hectic and difficult. It stresses them just like it does the other team and their only means of getting immediate relief is to stop play. Calling a penalty on the team that is causing their distress accomplishes two things: 1) Obviously they get a short break 2) It is more difficult for us to maintain a drive. I think the only time we get balanced officiating when we play another team that uses hurry-up

That has nothing to do with our D linemen getting tackled

Josh Heupel is nationally known for having highly penalized teams every year. The Refs know the history and call the game accordingly.

Maybe, I'm beginning to think it's something else. It's not like Josh is running Chips Oregon 130 mph offense

Exactly. My brother and I have come to the conclusion that holding is occurring on every play and the handful of refs call it random one way or the other. It does affect the outcomes of games just like an injury to a key player or bad play calling. If we are not going to stop the game for a commercial and sort it out via reply with coaches getting all the reviews they want then resume play knowing coaches and referees took a look, then it will keep on being a blackeye for all sports and we all have to live with the fact that the games are not so much decided by play and score but, in a significant way, the officiating and holding calls.

True but, there are a lot of other factors in calling penalties and the fact the Tennessee is getting a lot of calls tells me the refs are biased.....https://www.teamrankings.com/college-football/stat/penalties-per-game

What about the many holding calls on our DEs??? I mean choke holds??? Go back and look at the first touchdown for Alabama in the second half. Watch Baron in particular…

RE : Also will reporters stop asking Heupel about penalties??

Just proves the reporters recognize the situation also.

You hit it right...The refs can control our tempo. They have to go as fast or faster than we do.

Have said the same forever. These crews resent the high speed workout our offense puts them through. They hate the stress of performing their duties twice or 3x as fast as normal....so they take it out on us. Its complete bullsheit and I am Absolutely sick of it!

For us to play the last 8 quarters with a top10 sack producing defense in the country and have ZERO holding calls is criminal. Pearce gets held about 50% of snaps all by himself. Bastards
