What is so great about a job in a cold weather climate where the coaches are traditionally underpaid?

It's meeechigan how dare you. But your right. I guess the fact they play in a bad conference and only have to beat one good team a year would have its benefits.

I like you Dro', but you're wrong on that one. Tennessee is far better job than Michigan, if for no other reason than the SEC vs The Big 11.

That is tennessee football. I just thought you left that part out, sorry don't want to put words in your mouth.:)
The underachieving embarassment is the current head coach at UTK. See I care about the program as a whole more than I do about person.

it's the winningest program in college football history, has great facilities, a great education, plays in a conference where it at worst is #2 every year, great recruting base. the only one of these 5 that tenn can compete with michigan with is facilities. any idiot can win 10 games at michigan. any idiot can have top 5 recruiting classes every year at michigan. they'll pay a winner. . . trust me.

Yeah that's the arguement i have tried to make more than once on here. I got called a bandwagon fan not a real fan and a few other nice names. Seems the phil wagon is pretty strong on here like it or not. My beef is the conservativeness of him and the fact we've done squat since that one magical season. Other than that he's a swell guy.:)

the big 10 is a better place to be a coach. no conference championship game and overrated quality of schedule. just look at this year. ohio state is in the NC game with one loss and their best victory is over a mediocre wisconsin team.

I have got to say I'm with Droski on this. I've blasted UF and UGA (to a lesser extent) for a while over their OOC schedule, and to be honest I'm almost to the point where I'm ready to concede playing the likes of an ECU or MTSU every year, instead of legitimate opponents, in order to give us the best shot at a national title.

Carter, he probably is a swell guy but the longer he holds on without delivering championships the harder it is for me to rationalize my way around the kneejerk conclusion that the only thing he cares about is himself. BTW, most fat people are selfish.

I will concede all of that as to why it's a better job, but as with almost everything in life, follow the money. Michigan is cheap and with the way things are going in the SEC, pretty soon the average SEC coach's salary will be 3 mil.

I've been with you on alot of what you say, but that is a very unfortunate comment.

I believe most good coaches want to be more competitive than "that".

Pardon me for being a little extra bitchy then. I've pretty much accepted the lackluster season and the fact that the only person who I thought had the guts to do anything to turn it around for the future (Hammy) has gone to ground, but the idea that one of the two coaches on this entire staff that actually sparks my interest in a positive way may be headed out the door to coach at an ACC academic school is just a little much. I'll try to do better.

HB, you're still OK in my book. I dont know why you expected more out of MH considering it was Phil that put him in that seat.
