This just in....Urban Cryer says when he beats UT by at least 30 pts,he will officially wipe away the tears stains were CLK hurt his little feelings..WAW WAW...Hope Florida loses!!! There lawgator I gave you what you wanted, fuel for your fire.Maybe this will make you more interested in the game.LOL

I was reading an article the other day and they had a whole new angle on this that I had not heard, and it may have a significant effect of how Meyer reacts to Kiffin. I mean, we have all heard the speculation, right?

Well, turns out that in 2007, Monte Kiffin was contacted by Meyer and he agreed to come down to Gainesville for a day and help out with some suggestions on defense as Florida was having signfiicant problems. MK sat down with the coaching staff and spent an entire day working with them on some schemes.

So, it turns out that Meyer has a ton of respect and appreciation for Monte Kiffin. He said, in fact, that knowing MK like he did he was quite taken aback by the verbal attacks from Lane.

I think that if Florida establishes a significant early lead, and given that UT really is not designed to score quickly and catch up, you may well see Florida's offense get much more conservative than we all might have thought. I don't think you will see time outs getting called or last minute Florida field goals with a 25 point lead.

Well maybe they will put it all behind them after the game and go out for a beer or something.I'm sure the aftermath of the game will be an ESPN front pager, then you want see much coverage on UT for awhile.

Actually I think the offense will run the ball and let the play clock down to 1 each play. I don't think the defense will be on the field as long as we think..

i agree on the running the clock to 1 second, but that will take up less than 2 minutes each time we have the ball

As all of us predicted, the media are playing up the Kiffin angle for the Florida game. The Orlando Sentinel has FOUR stories on their webpage this morning about the UT-Florida game and how the Kiffin comments have made it a huge game.

Here's one of them: Orlando Sentinel - Gators OL: Lane Kiffin 'struck a nerve' with team by

But I have to say, as a Florida fan who has really been looking forward to this for awhile, Tennessee's loss to UCLA has taken a lot out of the upcoming game for me.

I think if UT had won that game in nail biter fashion, everyone on the board would be excited about how Kiffin had turned things around in terms of attitude and the brashness would be there. Now, I don't know, it really seems even from a Gator perspective like this Saturday lost a lot of its lustre.

Perhaps in a few days it will be more intense, but right now? Nope.

Lawgator I appreciate your post and I agree. The Gators putting a whipping on Tennessee this weekend would be paramount to kicking the hell out of a blind cripple man. Neither you nor Meyers is blind to the fact that we have no viable quarterback. Without one, all that you have to do is load the box and then sit back and wait. The best running back in the country can't do much in a one dimensional offense. Like you, I was looking forward to this game because I thought that we might compete. I was truly hoping that Crompton was better than he had showed. Sadly, Saturday revealed the dirty truth. Jonathan Crompton is a fine young man but not much of a Division I quarterback. So, enjoy the beat down this weekend. I believe that certainly in two years and, possibly next year, this game will mean something again.

If the defense plays smash-mouth football like they did last game,we will stay close.Just ask UCLA's Qb ,he will be out 4 games with a broken jaw.I didn't realize just how bad it was, till I read it on their forum.

It really just took the wind out of the sails, right?

I guess I would say this: its one game, the ball is pointy and bounces funny. If UT somehow manages to stay close and gets a little lucky at the end to win this Saturday, all of a sudden you control the SECE.

At some point, that is going to dawn on people and, while the prognostications will remain pretty sedate, perhaps what is at stake this weekend will make everyone say, know what, I might just watch this one after all!

The Vols were looking ahead to florida---that's clear. They have more talent than UCLA and should have won.

LG, haven't you heard? TN is not even going to make the trip to Gainesville since we do not have a chance and all.

nice try on throwing the bait there LG!!!

I think the more rational part of the fan base thought prior to the loss that we didn't really stand a chance against UF. this last week just confirms that.

Seriously thoug, kiffin's remarks aside - what has changed about this game? Were the Vols ever favored to win or compete? Fact of the matter is that UF has more to lose this weekend; if we get blown out - it was expected....if we keep it close - then win for us; questions for you.

I watched as much of the Troy game as i could stomach, and I gotta say that for a team with as much talent as UF - they just seem flat...hope that doesn't change this week!!!

Im sorry people arnt as delusional as usual this time of year. I guess with the future looking bright people are willing to take their lumps this year, and you cant blame them.

I dont expect to win, but I can guarantee people will get hit. All I want to see is physical football and for us to put up a fight.

I'll have to say at least we have played somebody this year. The mighty Gators are untested and you know this. I think Monte will have a few wrinkles for Tebow I also can't wait to see him go pro and try to run over Haynesworth. By the way, you do know with all the SEC qb's in the NFL playing Mannings,Cutler(beat UT and refs stole game away at the Swamp),Stafford,Campbell, mysteriously missing as always a Florida qb. Florida is a good college program just as Spurrier a good college coach but the qbs and coaches fail miserably in the NFL. It makes the SEC look bad. Maybe that's why you never talk about the NFL.

I did not mean to say or imply that the UCLA loss would affect Florida's players, just the anticipation level of the fans.

Nothing wrong with saying that the level of fan expectation and energy for this game is down a bit after the UCLA loss, and that's for fans of both teams. I think that's just being honest.

Couldn't run consistantly on ucla---You think we can run for first downs on UF----with no passing threat?
Fla has all 11 back on D. 8 in the box will negate the run.
TOP will be like 40-20. UT defense will be done by the 4th. Fla. turnovers (deep in fla. territory) are UT's only hope-----and no UT giveaways. Doesn't sound like a recipe for success. Tebow vs Crompton of old----hmmm.

If we're so easy to beat, why does this game mean so much to UF players? They wouldn't get mad if Charleston Southern had run their mouths before that game. Just shut up and play the game, UF. I'm so sick of hearing this crap. Yeah, God forbid, CLK said we were going to beat them this year. I'm kind of glad we have a coach that plans on beating UF, even if he's wrong. Stop being so sensitive UF, if you're as good as you think you are, you'll have no trouble lumping us vols in the same category as Charleston Southern and Troy.

Just to recap.According to you, repeated verbal attacks and false accusations about the Head Coach and his program should be disregarded and not fuel the emotions of fans and players. OK, I agree. Then I guess UT's underachieving, whiny, finger-pointing players and their obnoxious, egomaniacal, desperate, ungrateful, never-done-anything, lying, sleazy, lowlife, embarrassment of a head coach, Mouth, and their fans won't mind a few personal opinions.

Ah yes, Gators would be better off if they had lost to a middle of the road PAC 10 team at home. Great point. Let's talk NFL. How many ex-Vols currently playing in the NFL have not killed someone while drunk or do not have major drug, alcohol, or violent felony convictions ? How many ex-Vols that could be playing but aren't because they killed someone, are in prison, or owe a half million in child support ?(Little, Stallworth, Henry, Lewis , Goodrich, Hood keeps the tradition going You must be very proud.

That's why UT is going to run, run, run. Hardesty and Brown need to make sure the training staff have some buckets of ibuprofen hanging around because, for the two of them, I suspect its going to be a really long day..

We will likely send all 4 RB's at you; so include Oku and Poole in that list.

I posted it this morning but honestly even just a half day later I am seeing signs of life. I am hoping as we get closer to Saturday we can all get back into it again, you know?
