Woke up this morning to see that Edward Aschoff had died at age 34 from pneumonia. Started as football reporter in Gainesville. Was well thought of nationally and loved the SEC. Had a great self-deprecating sense of humor, even writing about his relationship with his cat. Never good to see someone so young die so early. We should all strive to make the most of our time on this earth.

Very sad indeed. Thoughts and prayers for his fiancée and family.

I personally never enjoyed his constant vol bashing articles, sometimes went way overboard, but I'm sure they were well written and honestly deserved.

R.I.P 34 is way too young..

Very shocking news. He was only 34. He was a very good writer; one of the few people at ESPN that I actually liked to read.

Stunning news yesterday, on Christmas Eve and his birthday.

Universally thought of as a really good guy.

Started out as a virus, morphed into multifocal bilateral pneumonia, killed him within a month.

Horrible news. Pneumonia is more serious than most people think, and easier to get. Sorry for his friends and family.

I had to look it up after reading this horrible news on Ed A; I had no idea but 50,000 people a year lose their lives to this.

Yeah I was shocked to read that yesterday. Evidently he died on his birthday and was engaged to be married in April.

He was a Florida alum/homer but a pretty darn good sports reporter. He will be missed.

Wow. So it wasn't quite sudden and unknown.

Wow. So it wasn't quite sudden and unknown.

Not sudden as in car accident sudden. But even though he was sick, when people hear flu, even pneumonia, they aren’t thinking death, especially for a 34 year old healthy man. So in that sense, I’m not sure the word had gotten to even those closest to him that he was near death.

For those interested, his fiancé recently made a post on Twitter under his ID that goes a lot more in depth and answers many questions about what happened. @AschoffESPN
