It is really sad when others know more about who we just hired and speak more highly of him than some on this board.

WE Have hired a coach that will get the job done.

There were several candidates that did not have any desire to walk into this mess. Anybody coming outside of the SEC to coach in the SEC without knowledge of the SEC football at ground level would have been self serving, arrogant or stupid.

CDD knows it requires a good staff, great players, a family mentality, a solid defense, an offense that can do it all, facilities, hard work and a fan base to win.

You can not come to the SEC with gimmicks and a sideshow and win. We just sent that guy packing.
Integrity and a clean program. He knows the rules.

He knows loyalty and honesty.

It takes a MAN to coach in the SEC. He knows that this job is a can be a total career ender. He coat tailed a great coach (Saban) when he could have stayed at home and stayed with DAD.

This man wants the opportunity to stand on his own. LA Tech is not the greatest place to be. He could have been comfortable at AL winning Championships and watching the wheels turn.

He chose the toughest route. He's got his shot and he is quality. Wait and see. You got a small taste.

Good guys do win and good to great win Championships. We are on the right track now.

Still believed than Fulmer needed to go. Glad Kiffin could not cut it. Elated we got a good potentially great Coach and staff.

MH needs to be let go not for this hire but for the Kiffin Hire. ADs do not get sucker and he got scammed with booster money. Bad investment in Kiffin.

Bear Bryant started at KY. We are not KY. But that is there only SEC Championship. I know why Dooley wanted this job. LA Tech was his stepping stone not us. We will get one of the most loyal coaches we have had to UT since Neyland. His dad is a great man and is true blue. Two games I want to win next year is LSU and GA. That will make my season. Add Alabama but it will come down the road.

I like the point about LSU. If Miles falls on his face again this year, and if Dooley started winning more games over the next 1-2 years he would have been at another SEC school by then. He would have been a no-brainer for LSU or UGA, and we would have lost our shot at an up and coming coach with a great presence and class about him. We are taking a shot at a guy with a 17-20 record, but no risk no reward. All great coaches have to start somewhere.

He looked like Saban up there last night-and he is just about what everyone across the country wants in a coach. I'm on board and will be at Neyland come September.

Ummm, I believe HE sent UT packing.

What pisses me off is compare Kiffins presser to Dooleys. How many championships and FL wins that Kiffin pitch versus Dooley. Sound bites and BS by Kiffin all talk no walk. Dooley said the right things I need to worry about this program first and will not worry about the others. Boy vs Man. SideShow verse Big Time, PAC mentality Vs SEC mentality, Hollow Wood vs Oak.

The, "we needed a big name" crowd are not well educated about college football.
CDD will be a GREAT coach for UT.

Ummm, I believe HE sent UT packing.

He is not here because he could not cut it in the SEC.
USC got their 4th or 5th choice.
He did not have the fortitude to survive the SEC
He packed his bags and left agree. Only the ones that whine about it are stating he left us. I am moving on and it is more positive to stay in my mind we sent him Packing.
In case you did not know it GOD is a UT Vol and He sent him packing. How is that. Good way to look at it.

I bet LSU is thinking let Tennessee break him in and we will hire him in two years!!!

This is his shot and he is not going anywhere. His greatest witness is his Dad. He will not go anywhere until we send him packing. He in his eyes knows that this is the Number 1 HC job in the USA. He will put it back on the map.

There are coaches that are self serving. He is not. He is loyal and has a strong work ethic.

Earning Trust vs saying Trust me is a very strong indicator of who he is and what he is about.

I'm glad I finally found a thread with intelligent UT fans. I was beginning to wonder about all the negativity in the other threads. I have watched a couple of the Thursday night ESPN games that LA Tech played in and thought..."wow that guy's a class act. He'll get his shot one day." And, now, he's got it! All the people that were wanting the "homerun" hire need to realize that all those big names were once a Derek Dooley type hire. There's a bright future on Rocky Top!

No, if he does well, nobody will be able to compete with the money UGA will throw at a Dooley.

Imagine Bob Neyland's son getting his chance at UGA and doing well. What would we pay to hire another Neyland?

Wonder if this bothers Layla at all. LOL

:post-4-1090547912:

That is Lane's problem and not UTKs.

A Boy that relies on a woman to validate his Man Hood is not much of a man.

Just because you have a p****, a pretty airhead, a good job does not make you a man. If he let's a woman run his life then he has problems.

I must say like most I was a little "iffy" on the hire but after watching his presser and his interview on ESPN news last night I'm very impressed. I know his win loss record isn't that great but I mean think about the talent of the players that go to LA Tech compared to the talent that comes to Tennessee.

I'm not a Vol (former Gator player actually) and I was curious about your schedule for next year. Went to the "Vols Football Schedule" and wasn't sure if you were aware that you still have a pic of that jacka** Kiffin at the top of that page along with Pearl and Summitt.

That guy is a disgrace and as much as I enjoying beating Tenn, I have to admit I feel bad (as do many other Gators) as to how this immature brat disrespected Tenn as well as the SEC. Good luck with Dooley, he seems like a good guy.

We will cross that bridge when we get to it. No need to be a prophet about it. This will happen if it happens so lets not worry about something that will not happen. CDD in about trust, integrity, loyalty. Why did he attend VA vs GA. I can not reason with the unreasonable sky is falling. All I can say is wait and see.

Found this info on La Tech website. These are his 20 losses at Tech.
Navy
Army
Nevada 3
LSU 2
Boise St. 3
Miss
Fresno St 2
Cal
Hawaii 2
Kansas
Auburn
Utah St
Idaho

Try that schedule at"Who wants to go to La Tech"( No disrescpect intended, just what I have heard) and see how you come out.
I like this guy. Was impressed with his press conference. Puts the team first. Intelligent, with integrity. Seems to want to earn our trust. Had a hand in 2 no. 1 recruiting classes at LSU. Not hanging on any coattails.
I think it is a definite upgrade for our program.
GBO, The Dooley Diesel is powering up.

Me being a La Tech alum I'm sad he is leaving my school to goto UT. I do feel UT found a special young up and coming coach.

It was nice to see Tech on ESPN alot this past Football season. Not to common to see the same small school football program on national TV multiple times. Is it coincidence Dooley was the AD!!!!!!!!!!

Go La Tech
Go LSU
Now GO Vols
and Go anyboby who woops alabama
