EB # 2 on Kipers Big Board

If I was EB, I would rather not be taken with one of the top 2 picks. Don't get me wrong the money would be great, but to be part of the Raiders or Lions would suck. I would rather fall to the 5th or 6th pick and hope a good team trades up to get me.

You cannot compare the Lions to the Raiders, the Raiders have 3 rings, and are getting better.....

It would be awesome if Indy traded up to get him. Bob Sanders and Eric Berry would be awesome to watch. I would also like to see him play along side Ed Reed in Baltimore.

Ed Reed and Ed Reed 2 eh?

personally i like the combo of him with some safety like michael griffin (no i dont think he'll end up on the titans). besides both being young still, both are the kinda guys that get picks and are fast enough to get returns yardage afterwards too. Would make teams really be wary of throwing it deep

did anybody notice that tiny tim isnt even on mel's top 25 list? i say mel's a genius. rock em EB

mel's usually pretty good at ranking how good the college players are. his problem is he's not always that great at figuring which nfl team will take / needs which player (or type of player)

if i was EB id wait to see what the draft looked like as far as what team he may go to. if the raiders are sitting in 1-3 spot id wait another year hoping to god i wouldnt go play for them. I know this may sound ludacriss but could he possibly skip the draft then go pic the teams he wants to play for and take a huge pay cut for one year? Would be awesome if he was a titan, patriot,or a colt. I know im dreaming.

That would be incredibly dense on his part. whatever team he did end up signing with at that point would not give him anywhere near the amount of money he would have made as a top 3 pick, and the total amount he would make would not get near what it would have been had he gone top 3...and whatever teams he'd be on would make sure it stayed that far off in negotiations, arguing "well, you started off as an undrafted Free agent" (i cant give numbers, but the difference between possible salaries here would be massive)

And i don't think he can declare and then just stand on the sides. Once he declares for the NFL and signs an agent, his rights belong to whichever team drafts him. Now out of that, he could either demand a trade like eli or elway did, but people are just going to call him a crybaby for years, or the other out is what crabtree's doing now, and you see how much that has changed everyone's great views of him. Either of these are honestly out of character for berry...he's the kind of guy who will play hard for whatever team he's on and be very glad he's in the NFL.

And the thing is guys (this is general, not just directed at you), this isn't the position where a player's success is all about the championships; in fact, most in the league aren't! I know you guys all want to be like "woo, berry on a super bowl team" cause you think that's what is the best way for him to get noticed. The truth is, whatever team he's on, as long as he goes out there, makes the big hits, makes the picks, and dominates at his position he will get known! People will know his name and the media will make sure of it! and if he goes to 6, 8, 14 pro bowls - even on a terrible team - guess what? everyone will know him and he will get into the hall of fame too. Super Bowl wins aren't used to gauge anyone on the field's careers other than quarterbacks and coaches (and really a they shouldn't for QBs since championships are all about a team's success not an individual player's, but the general public just loves to equate the two together so much that it's become one and the same for them). If you're anywhere else, it's all about your actual play.

And pretty much only 1 or 2 guys will make the play that everyone remembers from a super bowl, and usually it isn't the biggest of the stars on the team anyways

People recognizing you as one of the best isn't based off of how good your team is, it's how great you perform on the field. :good!:

I don't care what the Raiders have done in the past. Al Davis is a nut job and the team is a train wreck. I don't see them being much better this year. The Lions will probably be better than the raiders.

As the board's resident OU supporter, I'm going to guess I watch the Sooners more closely than most everyone here. That said, the idea that Sam Bradford is an elite NFL prospect is insanity.

Usually you tick me off with your intolerance for other viewpoints, however, in this case you are probably right. I am an OU graduate ('94) who married a diehard UT alumni . Both teams are dear to me so I always keep up with OU. There are a LOT of OU fans and alumni who have found Bradfords play on the biggest stages lacking.
