I stated in another thread that I fell off the back of one of my work trucks and landed flat on my back yesterday.
While I hurt all over I can’t help but think that if I wasn’t in shape and had not relaxed for impact I could have been really hurt. The yoga today helped a good bit
Plantars is rough for sure. I had it for about 8 months and it was terrible. There are things to help improve that. Getting measured for running shoes is probably the best thing I ever did. It sounds crazy because we have been wearing shoes our whole life but finding the right shoe for your foot and the way you strike the ground is huge.Does this not beat up your knees and/or your feet? I ran while too fat and gave myself plantar fascitis that always comes back. It's why I only run once a week now.
It hasn't, yet, but I did start with very short distances and have slowly increased. I definitely feel like I have done more work the next day, LOL. My pace is nowhere near what it was when I used to run regularly. This is a good pace for my Boxer though, with her shorter snout. I've also trimmed a decent amount of fat, so I'm only at 198 pounds with the vest on.Does this not beat up your knees and/or your feet? I can't stress enough how important it is for some people getting fit for the right shoes. I have flat feet and running used to kill me until I got help. Stability (Asics Kayano) shoes have made a world of difference.That being said there are still people out there who just can't run. They hurt too bad no matter the circumstances and I understand that. There are other ways to get cardio in if you want cardio as part of your workout routine.
I used to get shin splints really bad... to the point I would ice my shins for 20 mins before a run and 20 mins after. I finally went and got measured and I have been in Brooks ever since. The shin splints are gone and it also changed the way I struck the ground allowing me to increase speed and distance. My problem is that I tried to run at 240+ lbs and I did so on asphalt walking trails in Merrells. The shin splints went away eventually, especially as I got running shoes. I like my Peloton. I wish we had a nice bike trail system here like there is in Pinellas County. Road cycling is just too dangerous for me, but I may try to get back on my mountain bike this fall and hit some of the area parks.Long ago, when the world was new and death was but a dream…
When I ran, I got measured and fitted at a running store and liked my Brooks.
If you’re like me and running ain’t happening unless you get a double hip replacement, try cycling. It’s easy on the joints, and if you do it right, good for musculature and cardio.
