Eat crow on this staff recruiting success

I was pretty hard on Heupel from his hire date until the Mizzou game. Just seemed like an underwhelming hire. After going “all in” on our past three coaches I was extremely jaded. Im very pleased that I couldn’t have been more wrong about JH.

I was a little concerned that we weren’t having traction with enough top recruits. Even though I acknowledged the NCAA cloud hurt, I saw a cause for concern. With this close the past few weeks I’m here to eat crow. Join me if you made similar posts about the jury being out on whether this staff could recruit at TN.

Top 10 according to Rivals as of today. Impressive given all the hurdles they faced this year.

Any other crow takers?

I'm not overly impressed with this class. Better than I expected a month ago or a few days ago, but not near good enough to compete for the SECE title. By far the worst in-state recruiting in memory. Hope they tear it up recruiting next year. They can make up deficiencies with the portal, but I don't think it likely. No reason to have lowered expectations. Fulmer never had a class ranked this low.

You're talking about Fulmer? The guy who brought us a national championship and had UT as a relavant force for years and years? The guy who left and then the program went into a tailspin of losing and non-relavance? He wasn't the best AD...but as a coach he was a legend and deserves any and all respect for making us a true force in college football...a place we haven't come close to getting back to since he just "had to go."

Phillip Fulmer was the most overrated coach in history of college football. He was a great recruiter but couldn’t coach his way out of a wet paper sac.
Destroyed twice by both Nebraska and Penn State. Out coached by spurrier EVERY year .

Yes he did. The 2008 class after the 2007 season was ranked 35th.
