I was a little concerned that we weren’t having traction with enough top recruits. Even though I acknowledged the NCAA cloud hurt, I saw a cause for concern. With this close the past few weeks I’m here to eat crow. Join me if you made similar posts about the jury being out on whether this staff could recruit at TN.

Top 10 according to Rivals as of today. Impressive given all the hurdles they faced this year.

Any other crow takers?

There are but they won't show up to this thread.

I admit that was my nagging concern. We still have a bit to go before we are stocking top 5 classes every season - which is what we need to do to get where we want to be. Even so, Heupel has outperformed expectations for this year both on the field and in early recruiting by a mile.

Now if he can dip into the portal a bit and come up with a few more winners, I think it points to some real momentum to UT's future. This wasnt some class of legacies left to him like Butch had.

After last year and the NCAA cloud, he and the staff have done wonders in getting the new talent in and the old talent working together as a team and playing to the level of their potential.

I think a lot of recruits have taken a wait and see approach this year. I don't see panic in the eyes of any of our coaches. They know what they have to offer, and this season showed the potential that is there. No need to beat our selves up being cautious are having apathy, given the past several years. GBO! The future is bright orange.

I always just took a wait and see attitude. Considering all the circumstances, I think CJH and staff did a really good job, not great, but really good.

Not sure how halfway thru 1st full year of recruiting we can't still say the jury is still out. Why must we always hurry up and decide these things?

Its not as bad as I expected but make no mistake, its going to have to get much better if we want to be serious about competing for division and conference championships. Starting next season we really need to be minimum top 5 in the SEC to have enough talent to compete.
TN finished number 4 in the SEC according to rivals as of today.
