Minus 40 wind chill & over 24" of snow on the ground this morning. Sometimes I really miss Chattanooga.

You guys be safe out there.

A young woman wasn't paying attention to me or the road today. Black ice was popping up here and there. She met me at a bridge and when she realized I was there, she slammed her brakes and slid in to the corner of the bridge and her car swung out toward me. I had no where to go. I hit her and knocked her 50-60 feet down in to a ditch. Once I got my truck stopped and hazards on I ran to her to help and all I could hear was her screaming
" my baby". My heart hit the ground and once I got there and inspected the scene both her and the baby were fine. But her car was totaled.

Police said it was no fault. Scared me to death. As well as the young woman.

This all happened with in 30 minutes of the rain falling.

Glad everyone was safe. Heck of a week to stop smoking.

Local guy crashed his car into a ditch, couldn't get out. Went walking for help and was later found dead in a creek bed. He was also highly intoxicated.

Tomorrow will be our tenth snow day. Not all in a row. Thankfully, here in Missouri, we don't have to make up any past number 10. We will be out May 23rd now, factoring in our built-in snow days...

Run your faucets for a few minutes then leave them dripping if you've got any doubts about your insulation.

Wife was walking the dogs this morning and saw smoke coming out of the chimney of a vacant house across the street. She called the neighbor(I was on the way to work) and they went to see if there were squatters. Turns out the owner had left the furnace on, but had not done any sort of winterizing. Pipes had burst all over the house and the water had turned to sheets of ice. Whole house is ruined.
