Breaks, fate, or destiny started happening for the 98 team in the first game against Syracuse with a pass interference call, and again with a missed Florida field goal, before the Arkansas fumble, and before Florida State having to play a 3rd or 4th string qb. Also, it didn't hurt Tennessee to have that much talent on the field. I will settle for less than the Ch. game this year.Look anything can happen in College Football. We "what if" scenarios it to death.
If it happens it happens for a reason. Let's just wait and see.
If we were to get to the SECCG it would be a major accomplishment and with this schedule they will have earned it.
I have seen lesser teams get there and even to the NC game.
Let's not taint it with I don't want to see this again without even knowing who the opponent is and I definitely would not want to take an accomplishment like this (SECCG) game away from our players just because a fan doesn't want to see another pre predicted loss by 35 to an unknown opponent.
Let's just wait and see. It will only be a plus if we make it there because it is a validation of our team headed in the right direction. Why take that moment away from the players especially the Seniors? For your on personal embarrassment.
Do this if they make it, then you have a choice to simply not watch the game or attend. That is the simple solution.
The East is down but this is part of the process of rising to the top ahead of schedule. Fear no one. Have faith.
Do you think the 98 Championship team did not have breaks or fate or destiny on their team. Arkansas fumble is just one example.

Winner's attitude versus loser's attitude. Alabama may not make it a whole lot of football to be played.
I could definitely watch a 10-10 half again.
Realistic vs. orange shades... Would love to be there means we are 8~4 but we could be 8~4 without the sec champ. And have just as much hype going to the cotton bowl or outback IMO.
it wouldn't be 10-10. Bama already had 35, so they coasted. Hopefully you aren't that foolish.
I am not that foolish, but for the second half of that game it was 10 to 10.
Our team being in the SECCG will more than likely not happen.
However, I am not going to state it demeans the game if we did make it. I am not going to state without a doubt it will be Alabama although chances are very high it will.
I don't even know why we are having this conversation with the exception that somebody about 15 or 20 posts ago stated it would Demean the Game if we represented the SEC Eastern Division.
So I took issue with that statement and would hope you would too.
We don't need to be scared of Alabama or any other school. EVER. Nor should we avoid playing any school for the reason or excuse it would demean the SECCG or any game. That is the attitude of some fans, if it is yours then so be it.
The 10 - 10 score was comic relief to a degree, but wasn't totally out of context. TIFWIW
Currently here are the SEC East standings...
Missouri 3-1
USC 4-2
Florida 3-2
Georgia 3-2
Tennessee 1-3
Vanderbilt 1-4
Kentucky 0-4
So here is what could happen....We win out. 5-3 with a division record of 4-2. (we would be 2-2 on first tiebreaker)
USC loses to Florida and beats MSU. 5-3 with a 3-3 division record. (1-3)
Florida loses to Georgia, beats USC and Vandy. 5-3 with a 4-2 division record. (2-2)
Georgia beats Florida and UK, but loses to Auburn. 5-3 with a 4-2 division record. (3-1)
Missouri loses to Tennessee and Tamu, but beats Kentucky and Ole Miss. 5-3 with a 4-2 division record. (2-2)
Now there are FIVE TEAMS at 5-3. Head to head eliminator does not work, since all five teams have beaten each other.
Next tie breaker is division record. This means USCe is out.
Of the four teams left, it comes down to ranking. FSU hammers Florida and Georgia loses to Ga Tech and drop out of the rankings. We are ranked ahead of Missouri by virtue of beating them, and so we go!
LOL...the above is very unlikely, but it COULD happen.
Heck, I just wanna see five teams tied for the lead.![]()
doesn't work that way. the first tie breaker is the record versus all the tied teams. there is not part of the tie breaker rules that includes "rankings".
here are the tie breakers, for your pleasure:
Tie-Breakers
In the event of a tie for the division championship, the following procedures will be used to break all ties to determine the SEC Football Championship Game representative. All Conference versus Conference Games (both division and non-division) will be counted in the Conference Standings.
A. TWO-TEAM TIE
1. Head-to-head competition between the two tied teams.
2. Records of the tied teams within the division.
3. Head-to-head competition vs. the team within the division with the best overall record (divisional and non-divisional) Conference record and proceeding through the division. Multiple ties within the division will be broken from first to last.
4. Overall record vs. all common non-divisional opponents.
5. Combined record vs. all common non-divisional teams.
6. Record vs. common non-divisional team with the best overall Conference (divisional and non-divisional) record and proceeding through other common non-divisional teams based on their order of finish within their division.
7. Vote of Athletics Directors whose institution is not involved in the tie.
B. THREE (OR MORE) TEAM TIE
(Once the tie has been reduced to two teams, go to the two-team tie-breaker format.)
1. Combined head-to-head record among the tied teams.
2. Record of the tied teams within the division.
3. Head-to-head competition vs. the team within the division with the best overall (divisional and non-divisional) Conference record and proceeding through the division. Multiple ties within the division will be broken from first to last.
4. Overall record vs. non-division teams.
5. Combined record vs. all common non-divisional teams.
6. Record vs. common non-divisional team with the best overall Conference (divisional and non-divisional) record and proceeding through other common non-divisional teams based on their order of finish within their division.
7. Vote of the Athletics Directors whose institution is not involved in the tie.

no, the next step if record versus the teams tied. so you would look at USCs record versus UF, UT, UGa, & missouri, and so on. im not going to do the math again, but i was looking at this awhile ago and a scenario CAN come about where this is a 2-2 tie for all the teams, so you could then go to division record and the rest of your post is correct to my knowledge. i dunno if your situation yields a 2-2 record for each team or not though
