What do you guys think of McNeil adding 15lbs and switching to OLB,move Maybin inside,Bates at OLB so Maggitt can play DE full time
McNeil would have solid speed and coverage for an LB and it would open a safety position for Kelly Jr.
Thoughts?
Johnson doesn't start at LB for you? Bates better be a Freshman All American with the playing time Johnson has gotten since AJ has been out...
Early look at 2015 Depth Chart
Tell me this is not a 9 win team.
Our offensive line will be a hell of a lot better, our defense and offense will have more depth. More depth at skill positions. Only loss will be at LB losing AJ. But Bates and Maybin are more than capable.

I can only hope
Let's compare sophomore seasons. I'm leaving out Peyton because he was a once in a generation quarterback and Casey because we had arguably the best WR group in the nation that year with Washington, Stallworth, Witten, etc.
Andy Kelly
92 comp 156 att 59.0% 1299 yds 8.3 ypa 7 td 9 int
Erik Ainge
66 comp 145 att 45.5% 737 yds 5.1 ypa 5 TD 7 Int
Tyler Bray
147 cmp 247 att 59.5% 1983 yds 17 td 6 int
Josh Dobbs
96 cmp 156 att 1077 61.5% 6.9 ypa 8 TD 5 Int
Let's also not forget comparable 1996-1997 Vandy teams, where Vandy considered UT as their bowl games. It's a rivalry game. Players can have bad games. They happen.
Peyton Manning vs Vandy 1996-97
1996: 14-7 victory
17 completions 35 att 163 yds 0 TD 1 INT
1997: 17-10 victory
12 comp 27 attempts 159 yds 1 TD 1 INT
Casey, Tee and Shuler are the only QBs we've had who were consistently lights out against Vanderbilt since 1990s.
I don't really know why an off season leads most to believe our OL will be significantly improved.
Most of thm have been in the SC and Offensive system for 2 years. The players nor OL coach aren't just going to suddenly get better.
