Williams- Just keeps getting better and better. I have never really thought he had an NBA future but I can see it as a possibility now.
Schofield- Has forgotten who he is as a player and so far looks to have regressed but of course it's still early.
Alexander- At this point he may well be the second best player on the team but he needs to realize it and become more agressive but how long have we been saying that.
Bone- Same player. Little to no improvement and he is trying to do too much. We need Turner back for his scoring and to lighten Bone's load.
Pons- Improved all around but still lacking in offense. Needs to be slashing more. He makes things happen and needs to take some of Bowdens minutes.
Bowden- Decent all around player but needs to make shots to be on the floor.
Fulkerson- making things happen. Still not an offensive threat which is the case with too many of our players. Did I mention that we needed Turner back.
Johnson-waste of a scholarship

Terrible assessment. Funny though because some of our fans said the same things about Alexander and Schofield early on in their careers.

Schofield has had one bad game 3 games into the season.
Bone has improved quite a bit offensively.
I like what I have seen from Johnson, he’ll be important for us in the coming years.
But I agree, we need Turner...

Is the Admiral our Next Maymon?

Post #5: "I don't think Admiral he will ever be more than a role player."

2015 IL F Admiral Schofield (UT commit 8/31/14) (signed)

Post #447: "I hoped he was much better than advertized, but I do not believe he will be a great basketball player. I think if he wants to play at the next level, he should be football a try. Looks like a great TE or DE."

Post #387: "Not surprising he is staying. He won't get any more chances like us, and wouldn't have got the offer here if Barnes was the coach then. I respect Barnes for honoring the scholarship, but Schofield probably never sees the floor. No more 6'5 or 6'6 guys who aren't guards with good ball skills. If he is that height and playing the 3 and 4 he is not good enough for us."

Seeing "assessments" like this from posters is why I don't put much stock in them. I remember a poster before saying that Alexander was a waste of a scholarship, I just can't remember the thread.

I think Johnson will make a huge leap next year.

I have to disagree, Admiral has looked fine and Bone might be our 3rd best player. He has been aggressive and has been a pleasant surprise. Cant call Johnson a waste of a scholarship at this point.

I don't think Bone's style fits within anyone else on this team or how Barnes wants to run it. Give him credit, he stays within the team on offense.

Not sure how someone could come to this conclusion after just 3 games (3 convincing wins) but since we are being critical I can conclude the following:

ColinS-waste of a screen name and post with this assessment.

I can agree with this. Bone is better when forced to play uptempo and under pressure. Just look back at the two Arkansas games and the Auburn game last year.

Could be wrong but think his glasses were affecting him some. He'd commented that they were fogging up some last week, and think I saw where he threw them off last night, and maybe it just threw him off a bit...who knows, but I'm not worried about THE ADMIRAL...I wouldn't say worry, but I think we're going to need one of our guards cutting to the basket more...under control.

I’m not worried about Admiral at all. He’s played well enough without the glasses, if they’re any kind of problem he can just stop wearing them. We’ll know more of what we got next week.

More like:

Williams- Stud.
Schofield-Pressing too much early but will find his groove.
Alexander-If he keeps making strides and showing out like this, he could find himself in NBA 2nd round talk.
Bone- Tremendous improvement, not the distributor you want but scoring efficiently.
Pons-Freak athlete, any offensive improvement and lookout Bowden..
Bowden-Not a lot of scoring but pay attention to his defense and rebounding statistics.
Fulkerson-Back to the Fulky we saw at the beginning of his freshman year. Hustling!
Johnson-Has a nice shot, continuing to process defensively will be key in getting minutes.
Walker-Did not play last night, but a hard worker who has transformed his body. Continuing to push and work hard will earn him minutes at some point this season.
Turner- Get well soon buddy!

If anyone thinks that the Schofield we have seen early on is playing at the same level he did last year is not paying attention.

Obviously you are ignoring what people are saying.....its been 3 games. Do you remember his first 3 games last year? Step back and let's get a better sample size before we proceed with your absolutes.

Your ability to read has regressed apparently. I said of course it's still early. By the way I don't think he is gonna play like he did last night all season.

Or maybe it’s just not worth making hasty “assessments” of our players 3 games in? 🤷🏻‍♂️

If you were gonna say this:

Then why even post this?:

If anyone thinks that the Schofield we have seen early on is playing at the same level he did last year is not paying attention.

Which team have you been watching?

Williams - Baller. On a bad night had 22.
Admiral - Great athlete, other than last night he looks equal to last year, and I think he will continue to improve. Great team leader
Alexander - Kid can play ball. Massive improvement over last year, can't wait to see him late in the season
Bone - Finally has learned to go to the rim. He's not going to win a point guard award, but he plays good defense and moves the ball up the court effectively.
Pons - lives above the rim. So much upside here, and already a ton of improvement
Bowden - Just shoot the ball!! Great defender, passes well, and is a stud with mid range rebounds....puts himself in the right place to get the ball back
Fulkerson - Intensity. Plays hard every second. Good defender and elevates everyone on the court's effort level when he is on the floor.
Johnson - he's going to get there. He works for what we need him for this year, definitely a Vol of the future.
Walker - Glad he is a Soph, he needs a bit more time, but I think we will see him contribute in the future.
Turner - Can not wait to see him on the court this season. Hope he plays next week. Either way, I can't wait to hear the crowd the minute he steps on the floor for the first time at TBA.

Overall, it's a team we should be very excited about for this season, and one that looks like will be great next year as well.

Last year Admiral was getting into a lot of early foul trouble. That doesn't seem to be a problem so far this year.
