Interesting look and it'll be interesting to see how it changes. Seems like every spring the homer in me feels like we lead for so many dudes, only for them to kind of fall of the radar over the summer.

About this time circa 2024 for example I legit thought we were going to get Williams Nwarni, Ryan Wingo, Amaris Williams, Jordan Seaton, Chris Cole, and that highly rated tight end out of Missouri. Oh, and with an outside shot at Elijah Rushing. Pretty sure all of those guys ended up being 5 stars. Blinded by my own homerism.

I like to see that the secondary coaches have as many OV's scheduled as Pope and Elarbee this early on.

Should be able to pretty much lock this down once the O&W Game comes and goes. I assume we'll have a nice list of visitors, and then the staff will be working hard to build as big/elite a list as possible for the Memorial Day BBQ, which is always the amuse bouche to June OVs.

I think defense will be able to close better bc they actually care about the secondary now investment wise. OL is always going to spotty as long as Elarbee is here. That's not a shot at him, but when you are recruiting OL on getting to be face-to-face and relationships, it's a bit tougher when everyone else is doing that along with day-to-day stuff with people around the recruit. DL will always have some "misses" bc Garner casts a wide net and isn't afraid to swing big.

The analytics people will be a nice add for recruiting on defense. They shouldn't just be recruiting random traits to recruit them (length, height, speed, etc). They should have more of a practical plan in place, which matters infinitely more now. What does it matter if you get the four star if he is not going to play?? Offensively, Pope and Sims will swing big.

Fully expecting classes moving forward to be better. Tennessee has had high ranking classes bc they recruit the traits, but those guys never actually play. That will change with Knowles and Owings in the building. And the scouting staff should continue to be elite at film evals, so that could be a nice mix of old and new.

Feels odd to say this with CRG at the helm but anyone concerned about DL recruiting? I know he had surgery and think we lost chop, but there are very few DL signed up for OVs and that is a position group we can’t afford to be behind the 8 ball on in getting better at.

Keep in mind we took a s* ton in the last class.

I think Jackson and Malachi Brown are high chance to be in the class. We will add another couple in the fall and call it a day.

I wouldn’t say a sh’t ton. And I also think the majority of them are too small for Knowles scheme. I wouldn’t be surprised if the majority of the ones under 300 lbs aren’t here this time next year.

Actually going back over the last 4 recruiting classes, we have taken 3-4 per year, not counting edge players. And I wonder if that’s just not enough. I dunno, after what Butch did to us I will always be concerned by possible underrecruiting on the offensive and defensive lines. We really need our best guys to stay healthy this year.
