I was 11 years old and watched Tennessee beat Number 1 Auburn and Bo Jackson. Can’t forget Sugar Bowl of that year either beating the Canes 35-7

It was the same year for me.
Memories of that season consists of Saturday afternoons in my grandmother's yard with the radio sitting on the front porch with the volume cranked up listening to John and Bill making the call. My cousin and I would have a football in the yard attempting to reenact each play John called. Great season and some of my best childhood memories.

First game I ever attended was Miss State vs Tennessee (2003 maybe?) in Knoxville when Clausen hung 5 TD's in first half. We scored so much that JIM BOB MOTHA TRUCKIN COOTER played quite a bit in the second half. First game that I remembered watching was UT vs Syracuse for the Natty season. Was 8 years old.

I remember hearing games from the late 60's on the radio with John Ward. However, my first memories that made an impact was when Condredge Holloway was quarterback. He was the first dual threat quarterback that I remember. Condredge could outrun John Ward's call of the game. Like most people of that time, when UT was on the TV, we would turn the sound down on the TV, turn up the radio and listen. I can remember Holloway scrambling for a touchdown. By the time John had him sache into the endzone, the extra point had been kicked and the tv was into the first commercial. I miss those days! Hearing John Ward call, and Tennessee scoring touchdowns. "Give him six!"

We used to raise tobacco so many Saturdays were spent in the barn tying tobacco leaves together listening to John Ward especially during the 88 season where we went 5-6

First game I attended was in the hospital, since I was born just hours before came all the way back to beat Notre Dame. Since I was unable to comprehend what was going on then I had to watch it on youtube, and I always hear stories about how my dad was holding me when we scored, and almost slung me up in the air.

My cousin was getting married that night in Johnson City so we were getting ready while game was going on That was a great day

I can vaguely remember games here and there, but my one true memory was the Canes stomping in the Sugar Bowl. My dad and uncles were all fans, but that is when I realized I had orange in my veins also.

The 1965 game against Tommy Prothro's UCLA team at Memphis' Memorial Stadium.
Tennessee 37 - UCLA 34 with Charlie Fulton and the "Swamp Rat" Dewey Warren at quarterback. Ahhhh ... the good ole days!

I remember listening to the games on radio around 1965 after Dickey became the coach and John Ward started announcing. It was all about the defense then and we had a steady stream of all american linebackers!

1965 Houston game after the three coaches were killed. Before that my parents brought me souvenirs from games but that one was the first I believe I saw in person.

Had listened on radio to George Mooney and Bob Foxx since I can remember. Often in kitchen in Grandaddy's kitchen. He was hard of hearing and had the Volume on 10. That was in the single wing days..

Scoreboard show was "Hold That Line"

Going to the 1957 Gator Bowl in Jacksonville, and watching Tenn beat Texas A&M 3-0 with Bear Bryant as their coach.

I can remember listening to games on the radio before the 1985 Sugar bowl win but they do not stand out in my mind. The 85 Sugar bowl is when I truly became a TN fan. I was a Sr. in high school. We had the TV on and the during the pregame I can remember listening to them talk about how TN had no chance. Miami had Vinny, and this dynamic kid named Michael Irvin. They had a stacked defense and maybe the best 2 corners in all of college football their SS was a hitter and they had steam rolled everyone they faced.

Then the game started and Vinny hit Michael (wide open) in the end zone and made it look so easy. I remember the everyone was like "Damn they made that look easy". Then after a few series TN defense started to take over the game. They pounded the "Mighty" U into Orange Crush dust.

That is my first real memory of TN football. I have been hooked ever sense.

GBO beat the Cats this weekend.

In 1977, my brother was a law student at Vandy. We are from Nashville but I was attending school in East Tennessee at a boarding school. During the Vandy vs. U.T. game, my brother drove from Nashville to Seymour and took me to the U.T. vs. Vandy game...

John Ward started announcing football in 1968. The tie with Georgia on Doug's brand new Rug to be exact.

Earliest memory I have is the 2001 SEC Championship game against LSU when we blew our shot at another national title. Prepared me well for the future.

Ugh I'm sorry. That was the start of the Tennessee backup QB curse when Matt Mauk came in and took us to the woodshed after Rohan Davey got hurt.

Listening to John Ward on the radio while playing outside.
I grew up in a house were you knew it best to get outside and stay out of the old mans way. There was very little TV. Only a few games were broadcast at that time.

John Ward could place me in the stands with his play calling, a place I could not afford to be. His play calling made me a VFL.
Thank you John ward

I was born in the nineties. These aren't specific, but I can remember my dad jumping for joy and yelling "Yes!" at the top of his lungs. I always assumed those were Vol related. I guess my earliest specific memory was in the early 2000's. Tennessee and Alabama went into several overtimes before we finally got it done. I can't remember the year, but I remember the game pretty clearly.
