Pruitt faces renewed questions over cost of security detail - CNNPolitics

Pruitt's security team currently consists of 19 agents and includes a fleet of at least 19 vehicles, a source with direct knowledge of Pruitt's security detail said. With the cost of maintenance, gas, and training for agents, that leaves the dollar amount for his round-the-clock security in the millions.
The size of Pruitt's security is unprecedented. No previous EPA chief has ever received a 24/7 security detail, the agency's inspector general has said. Former EPA Administrator Christine Todd Whitman, who served under George W. Bush, has told CNN she walked to work alone even after the September 11 terrorist attacks, and although she traveled with security, it was never this large.

Pruitt was almost as bad of a hire as Devos. Throw in Rick Perry and Ben Carson and you have the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.

Members of his security team have also been flying first class with him... even on the short flights such as D.C. to New York. There is no excuse for this.

Some of you act surprised about this guy. Corrupt? Liar? Scumbag? Sounds like your run of the mill politician. Washington DC has always been a sewer. And it always will be.

Trump took a smelly but functioning sewer and turned it into an overflowing series of cesspools.

It's a byproduct of the elitist attitude of the whole Trump team. Not a single one of them views themselves as a public servant.

LOL. You are living in a fantasy land. Those who work for the government arent public servants.

Not all, but many. Just like LEOs, nurses, doctors, teachers, military, lawyers, etc. Some are in it for the right reasons and some are not.

The right wing mantra that all government is bad by definition is just more propaganda that the gullible and unthinking latch onto.

Trump is actually defending Pruitt in a tweet tonight, calling $50 night a night "market value" for a luxury room while charging over $500/night at Trump Hotel DC. Yes, he truly is this stupid.

In that same tweet, Trump also says that Pruitt's security spending is "somewhat" more than his predecessor's. For the record, Pruitt's predecessor at the EPA Gina McCarthy, had a 9 member security detail working part time for her while Pruitt's detail is 19 members and 24/7. He also has a fleet of armored cars. Pruitt's spending for security in 2017 was over 3 times what McCarthy spent in 2016. Somewhat more? :eek:lol: Trump also says that spending was "OK" and touts "record clean water and air"... Nowhere does he address the conflict of interest in this supposed "market value" rent Pruitt was paying to a lobbyist/condo owner or the raises that were given to two of Pruitt's aides that he brought with him from Oklahoma - in a misappropriation of funds for the Safe Water Drinking Act.

He can't possibly be this delusional. He thinks his base will accept this... and his 'fake news' line. Drain the swamp? :good!:

How does this guy still have a job? $43,000 for a sound-proof 4x4 room?!?

Pruitt's $43,000 Phone Booth Is Found to Break Spending Laws - Bloomberg

The Environmental Protection Agency violated government spending laws by installing a $43,000 secure "privacy booth" in the office of Administrator Scott Pruitt, the Government Accountability Office has concluded.

The expenditure violated the Antideficiency Act because it "obligated appropriated funds in a manner specifically prohibited by law," the GAO said in a report made public Monday. It also ran afoul of law requiring congressional notification for expenditures of more than $5,000 for improvements to an agency head’s office, according to the government auditors.

The soundproof booth cost $24,570 when it was ordered last August from Acoustical Solutions LLC in Richmond, Virginia. But site preparation and construction to reconfigure an office space for the booth boosted the overall pricetag. It cost $3,470 to do concrete floor leveling, another $7,978 to remove closed-circuit TV equipment and $3,350 to paint. The total cost was about $43,000.
