Dy'shawn Mobley

God love Terry Fair who was a great Vol and a pretty good NFL player. During a televised game last yr, he said that Mobley was a legit D-1 player. But I'm sure as you said, the "East Tenn scouts" don't know everything. But I'm thinking Terry Fair knows more than both me and you.

There are 120+ D-1 schools, so it's very realistic that he may be a "legit D-1 player", but not at UT, nor any other top-shelf SEC program. Sorry, its just the truth. There is a reason Toledo is the only D-1 offer he has.

You know the true story. That's not it.

Coaches tell recruits lots of things. Not saying Fulmer was lying, but he knew he was playing from behind since Cobb had already committed to Kentucky. He told him what he wanted to hear. If you believe for one second that he would have started even one game for Tennessee at QB, then you are very naive.

Actually, according to either Cobb himself or his father, UT only offered him to play at QB, and Kentucky offered him to play either QB or WR.

No actually Cobb wanted to play QB but Tennessee told him he wouldn't get a shot a QB here. Kentucky agreed to give him a shot at QB and that and the fact that Tennessee offered way to late is the reason he went to Kentucky.

It's amazing that there are so many recruiting experts on here. How do you know he isn't good enough to play here or another SEC program? I think it's just assumed that if a kid plays HS in East Tennessee he isn't good enough. Anyone see the contract that Tyson Clabo signed this preseason? He couldn't play here either but he's an All Pro with a 25 + million contract. There's a LB at Vandy named Chris Marve that didn't have a single offer except Vandy and he's been a 4 year starter and first team all SEC. There are players all through the NFL that were not good enough.

I'm not shocked that we haven't offered Dy'Shawn Mobley yet but I think it's going to be a mistake if we don't unless we are able to sign a "can't miss" guy like Marshall

Put 25lbs on him and make him a LB. Remember Eddie Moore, RB from Little ole South Pittsburg, rushed for 2000 yards senior year, and ended up being a Damn good LB for the Vols, same thing with Eric Westmorland, RB at Marion Co. (Jasper). Both guys was
6' -6'1, 225lbs and would HIT!!! Both was drafted into the NFL also. Gave the Vols the Speed to stop runs to the Outside, guys like that would have really helped against Rainey and Demps. Remember that some of the Best LBS the vols have had, was good RB's in High School, even if it was TN high school football.

We need all the running back help we can get, and if Mobley is for real, you have to assume Dooley is aware of him. Recruiting is a tricky business. Get a commit at a position and a previous commit changes his mind and goes elsewhere. I would guess Dooley is waiting to see his whole body of work. I for one don't assume to know more about evaluating kids than the coaching staff, so I will just sit back and see what happens. And one other thing; Why do members get on here and bash a potential recruit? My guess is that most kids are aware of these sites and get on them to see what the fan base is saying about them. Maybe that is part of the reason we loose ou ton some of them. Just sayin'.

It's been a few years since everything happened, and after speaking with more than a few people on this, UT would have never put Cobb at WR because of who they had on the roster at the time. Even Cobb himself said they were only recruiting him at QB at UT, and a recruit isn't just going to lie about that in an article. I don't think Cobb would have shined here at UT, and he got a much bigger chance to do that at UK, which he did very well.

He won't get a offer, especially w/ limited spots left.

He won't get a offer at LB either, were done at LB unless a big time LB wanted to commit. The rest of our class will focus on DL mainly, w/ a WR or two, & a OL.

Rudy Stinson was an incredible athlete. Powell HS has had several very good players including Daryle Smith and his son Lee Smith who is currently in the NFL (Buffalo I think) and John Bruin come to mind.

Yea, They also (Kiffin) told Boyd, qb for Clemson, he was not good enough to play to Tennessee also. He is one of the best quarterbacks in all of college football today. Wonder how many stars we have lost because "they were not good enough to play for Tennessee" ? As a life long Vol fan it doesn't appear that you have to be too good.

Do you have a link for that? Because I'm almost 100% sure that isn't what was said.

David Garrard can throw and run. He's way better than Tom Brady and Peyton Manning imo.

I just cannot understand why a head coach would want a pro style qb that cannot run and chew gum at the same time. I would want a qb that could do it all like, Boyd.

My fault, I mean throw and run.

Kiffins eval of Boyd looks ludicrous at this point. Boyd is putting up spectacular numbers at Clemson and against quality opponents in Auburn and FSU. I like Bray, but until he get's that signature win he is considered good, but not great. :shades:

You take Vince Young. I'll take Tom Brady. Let's see how it works out for you.
