For what it's worth, and that's probably not a lot because it has been a year since he was with Auburn and things could have changed, but when Dyer was at Auburn and Ark St, he thought he was bigger than the program. He will always be a bit of a jerk and show off, but he gets in other teammate's face and mouths off to them and is very narcissistic. Not to mention the fact that he had drug as well as crime problems. IMO the argument of "what do we have to lose?" is not valid. You could possibly divide and lose your team. Just look at Auburn last year. Not saying that was his fault, but it was the combination of that and other off the field problems that led to Gene Chizik's demise. Again, TIFWIW, he may have changed himself for the better.

also, already been kicked off 2 teams, why the headache...this team is going in a new direction with new leadership...don't need old problems upsetting the enthusiasm that Jones and crew have created...

People said the same crap about Cam
newton. We should have taken him. Best college quarterback of all time.

Take him. He competes for a spot like everybody else.

Set the STANDARD from the beginning CBJ. Everybody earns their spot and they earn it by doing things the way they are expected and coached to do them. And then by god...coach them to do it!

Gene Chizik was the reason for his own demise. There was a reason Auburn fans hated his hiring to begin with. He lucked out when someone at the barn bought him a great QB. That QB made him look far better than he is. This last season was just a return to norm.

I was going to vote yes, but all the yes options left me confused. I think I might have clicked no by accident.

I think there is a small risk in dividing the team..you are bringing in a guy who blew two chances over a guy who has done all the things asked of him...remember what Hubbs said about Bellamy how some on the team expressed concern about the photo and his time here on his official?

I think there's some key differences here. Bellamy had UT teammates concerned because he was currently acting a fool and a drama queen, where Dyer already made some idiot moves in the past, but is currently flying low. If the team objects to Dyer coming on, I say hell no. You don't push something like that on them. If they don't have a problem, I say go for it and keep ahold of his leash.

I didn't see the option for "Yes, but it's way, way too soon after NSD for you guys to start getting your hopes up about far-fetched additions to the team again already."

If the coaching staff felt like he had earned another chance, then I would be all for it. I don't know enough about his behaviour to vote.

That seems to work for saban.

UT has worked very hard to rid the program of self serving egomaniacs. Why should we call one now?

If Butch calls Dyer then he will loose all credibility about recruiting character. Competing coaches would have a hay day talking about how this kid was kicked out of Auburn due to character issues and Butch called him to come to UT.

The question is his character now. Did he learn from his mistakes and is working on bettering himself? If the kid grew-up and matured from the incident, give him the opportunity. I'm not recommending we take every high risk 4-5* player, but it seems CBJ is can manage 3-4 high risk players per signing class.

If he wants to come here, give him a chance and a very very short leash. Make the existence of that short leash very public.

Ia there any chance he may actually even be on the radar or is he as likely as Lawson was?

Heck of a ball player and would love to have him. I don't know if he has interest in UT or if the coaches even want him. If they do I think they should definitely see how the the team would feel about bringing in a guy who could potentially be a cancer. In a perfect world everything goes our way for once and this kid ends up in orange and has learned his lesson. Seriously doubt that happens though.

Exactly. CBJ has to be concerned what kind of effect Dyer would have on the team. If I thought Dyer was a changed man, I would bring him in, have him meet with the team captains, and let them decide.
