Really sad what happened with him. He made an epically bad decision and paid for it.

I will never forget that pick six against FSU.

I remember the pick six against FSU. I was on a business trip and the guy in the room next to me knocked on my door. He thought something was wrong because I was hollering so loud at the TV. LOL!
I hope Goodrich can tell his story to the UT football team. With what happened with Cam Clear, Goodrich's story will only reinforce the fact that every decision has consequences. Those players need to hear that. I needed to be reminded of it myself.

A great example of how one bad decision can negatively impact the rest of one's life. He should come speak to the team. A powerful example.

Some folks never figure life out. It seems Goodrich has found his path. I wonder if it was victims families or judge that said contacting them would violate his parole. Not that a "Im sorry" would bring their sons back but just curious.

I don't think this is about turning his life around or anything like that.

It's about paying for your mistakes.

He seems like he lived a fine life, he just made a mistake that cost him tremendously.

I'm sure he has a lot of demons from that night to deal with. It was a horrible mistake. But one that he truly knows was a mistake and is remorseful for. Sometime's I think prison makes some criminals worse, but honestly I think it opened his eyes to life and the things that can be taken away with one choice. Maybe he could come and speak to the team,I'm sure he would if asked to do so. It get's my vote anyway.

Sad story, sounds like someone was Just standing in the wrong spot in the middle of the interstate.

Good read thanks for sharing. I hope he can get his life back together. I agree, he needs to speak to the team as well.

Its tragic what happened between him and Dante Stallworth...dark days for VolNation. For some reason I thought both of them were drunk. If Goodrich says he wasn't....I guess we have to take his word on that.

I hope Goodrich can turn it around and I really do wish him the best.

Very good read. I hope he can learn from his mistakes. It sounds like he already has and I hope he can use he experience to help others. Good luck DG.

If you are honest, how many times have you driven in a situation where that could have happened to you.

Not in recent years, but I have driven when I shouldn't on too many occasions.

This is great. It was such a shame that he panicked and didn't stop. If he had stopped, I don't think he would have gone to jail, if he wasn't I've the legal limit.

When I was in college at UT, on Neyland Drive a car in front of me suddenly stopped. We were both in the left lane, west bound, and there was no turnoff to the left (unless you wanted to go for a swim). I thought they were trying to move to the right lane, so I didn't immediately put on the brakes, but then they stopped. I had nowhere to go but to cross over into the oncoming lane (there was no traffic there) to avoid them, but then the car turned left in front of me! I hit them dead on the drivers side. turns out it was a woman who had seen her hubby going the other way and decided to make a u-turn.

I see that as similar to what happened to Goodrich, at least the first part.

First rule is remember the other drivers will be unpredictable. Second rule is if you are in. A collision, never leave the scene, no matter what you think the consequences might be. They will be worse if you don't stop.

I placed myself in a similar situation a few years ago. Luckily no one was injured but myself. I learned a valuable and very expensive lesson that night.

I actually feel bad for Goodrich. I mean, from accounts, he wasn't drunk. He just panicked. I cannot say I would have stayed at the scene.

Although I haven't talked to DG in years, I knew him, and he was one of the nicest UT players I ever met. Talked to him once after the incident.
This just shows you that even a 'decent' guy can slip up and not only screw up his own life but the lives of others.

If i were guessing i'd say he left the scene so he would have time for his blood alcohol level to drop. I doubt he only had 2 drinks.
